Your take on dieworkwear, shill or enthusiast?

I am none of those 3

Craptom was a shill until he was called out on accepting gifts and then started to make declarations. However he often writes questionable reviews such as when he was demounted by Sarto on the Burgos vs Kiton shirt reviews. So shill? Kind of. Irritating twat? Absolutely.

Check out his work as editor of Intelectual Property Management; his primary job.

Ah, so no way he can afford one or two bespoke suits at ÂŁ3k-ÂŁ5k a month. 95% discount it is. Smart guy though, getting a free wardrobe for writing 2 paragraphs with some pics.

He's also buying Luxire stuff now and active on SF.

What were your findings of this deep analice?

the field analice :

1) Simon Crompton has told me in person that he is only peripherally aware of the forums and does not participate. While it is possible he is lying about the former, I believed him about the latter.
2) I have PMed SimonC in the past, like me he is an obsessive vintage cloth hoarder. On the other hand Crompton has at best a limited knowledge of cloth.

Simon Crompton (not me despite the similar name) is known to promote products on his blog in return for free merchandise. In this context I'd be wary of 'Choppin & Lodge' - Simon got the suit for free, even he recognised there were some basic mistakes made (i.e. the sleeve lining) and I think the actual construction is done via Graham Browne's usual outworkers.

That notwithstanding, I've had a couple of suits cut by Russell at Graham Browne and they're exactly what I asked for, competently executed, and reasonably priced. If you search this forum and others you'll see there are numerous other 'budget' London bespoke tailors, so it's worth settling down with a cup of tea and doing some reading.

Many blokes on here and SF are paranoid about this shilling business. I've seen so many SF members named as "shills" who are clients of mine that have never asked for a discount on anything. Conversely there are heaps that no one's heard of that do email me for freebies that get told to bugger off.

Mostly I think people think certain SF members that are active, buy heaps of stuff and potentially living beyond there means are automatically shills. Probably a few are, but in actual fact most are just obsessed, possibly are living outside their means are in a few cases despite what people think are really quite wealthy.

You actually had to listen to that fool in person? I salute you for your fortitude and sacrifice good sir.

On the Gram, people are skilled at appearing to live beyond their means. Pictures in front of others cars or rented luxury cars, hotel lobbies etc etc etc

i sold him cloth. he is not crompton

I wonder what is it that people get for living out of their means. I live well under my means. I spend roughly 50% of my salary and the rest goes to the bank. Then again I grew up poor as shit.

Some like to call it consumption smoothing. Arguably, saving for retirement isn't as straightforward as it used to be. Do you want to put money at 0%? Might as well spend it on real assets that keep up with inflation. Or just blow it all and enjoy living in the moment.

How about craptom? Is he a shill? He says sometimes it's free, sometimes he receives discounts (how much? 5% or 95%?) and sometimes he pays full price?

Can our resident shill scientists please opine?

Craptom is the ne plus ultra shill.

Forgetting Craptom for a min; Paul Lux - shill or not? Kid is barely out of diapers but has a wardrobe filled with Ripense/ Liverano/Saville Row/ Camps de Luca/ Cifonellii?

I know he sometimes writes for therake (does that magazine make any money), PG and runs his own blog!

I believe it's all respoke

No need to waste precious words on Paul Lux: he is vertically challenged and from Luxembourg.

Let's get back on topic. We were specifically talking about "Die, Workwear!" He is a shill, or as some call him an "enthusiast." Of course, he is going to dissimulate with the arbitrary oblique statement about one brand or another once every so often. That does not preclude him from getting freebies, discounts, and/or preferential treatment from any number of companies that he enthusiastically writes about. My apologies, if I have missed the parenthetical "full disclosure" in his occasional creative writing.

can I just say that i am flabbergasted that SF and other fucktards had the balls to ask for discounts/freebies from HenryC HenryC

Why so desperately trying to find dirt on him? It is quite boring really.
Ask Sartodi. He's the one who reopened this can of worms. As far as I knew, everyone had considered him a shill and moved on with their lives.
