Different font on that one and it suits the watch. It's a bit old-timey but if Gla-shoot used those date wheels in the '70s line then it would still be a huge improvement over the current arial or whatever it is.

Beautiful watch ruined by the big date in this case not enhanced by it...

Yeah they ruined the 60s panodate with the same lame date wheels. Why not use the same numeral font as on the hour markers for the full mid-century effect?

The bridge is this: I said the only women I had come across who really digged and knew all about luxury watches were prostitutes. A fact. Walker effectively said he was above paying for a sexual liaisons and it wasn't in his area of expertise or experience, but by the way Lord Buckley "glad you love your job, though." Which I assumed he thought I was pimp.

Then I said fear not, do not have any moral hangups about paying for sex. Then I threw into the maesltrom the insinuation held in some circles, by some people, that Rolexes are pimp watches. Which is statement of fact.

Tried one of these on today on a whim - not as thick and with a surprisingly nice and clean design for a Grand Seiko. And very well made of course. But I still don't understand why all their best designs are limited editions...

^They are really nice, although I'd prefer it if the dial had a little bit less text on it (especially as the text is a mixture of various fonts, which makes it a bit messy).

I like the hands, including the blued steel seconds hand, of the new model, but I much prefer the dial of the 1968 original:

They are extremely impressive in the flesh. I like a bit of text on the face, the Explorer I does this quite nicely I think, or at least it did. Also the Seiko MM 300 is just right IMCO for a dive watch that you can sport almost everyday. It looks the biz and has all the provenance and presence of a Submariner without the cost and negative connotations of being a flash harry, nouveau riche or look what I've just bought after my first rotation off-shore Angola.
