It's always five o'clock somewhere

Fuck yea, old lakeport brewery is now open under the Collective Arts Craft Brewery Brand!
My only beef with a lot of craft stuff is that it is so damn hoppy, I'd love to see some more malty craft brews.

Drinking a Balvenie 15 year with two ice cubes. Not one, not three.

The greatest thing about exporting democracy being in the military is tax-free liquor at the Class Six on post, which is 25-30% cheaper than retail sans sales. The Puritanical assclowns who run this fucking state okayed weed but continue to give us the old strugglesnuggle when we buy liquor.

The whole PTSD thing happening to soldiers is unbelievable, I try not to think about the number of suicides these folks commit every day.

I dunno what they're so upset about. There's nothing in the world as satisfying as having someone shoot at you in anger and miss.

Back in March, I shot for the first time, I went to a range and shot two pistols and I framed my targets! I certainly enjoyed it, shooting is exhilarating.

There's a gun range in Tacoma that's free for active military one day per week, and it's right across the street from a brewery. I see no way that this could ever go awry.

If you can so much as hit the damned target the first time, you ought to think about taking it up as a hobby. You're already ahead of most of the Ed Hardy asshammers I see at the range.

So I've had this Coney Island Hard Root Beer a few times. It has ~5.8% alcohol, but basically tastes like root beer with a faint alcoholic aftertaste. I'm still not sure what to make of it.

I actually prefer the 12 year or 17 year Doublewood. Not that I'd turn down the 15 or anything.

Enjoy your non-alcoholic water! I see the beauty of the future! Alco-water. Alcoffee. What else do people drink that is lacking alcohol?

Call me Ishmael Fwiffo, doped up on sleeping pills, plus some diazapam , plus a bottle of IPA beer and a bottle of Shiraz. Didn't get any sleep. Last night. . So in bed e@10.30pm. Eating cheese and a fresh pears. Due to a sales promo of. Laphroaig and oysters last week I scored 3 small bottles with eyedroppers of Laphroaig single malt.

I can recommend lying in bed and using an eye dropper to squirt single malt Islay scotch onto the tongue. Drip. Drip. DripDrip. ly @1

I have to drink Laphroaig from an eye dropper?

I can handle mouthfuls of peat.

A sergeant I work with bought me a bottle of "Toasted Caramel" Black Velvet, which has rightfully been sitting in the back of my liquor cabinet.

This weekend my team and I were assigned to train up some of the One Weekend A Month crowd, so yeah. Explain the genesis of the Syrian conflict for sixteen hours, from the Arab Spring to crucified children in Deir Az Zawr (Happy Ramadan, everyone!) and every stop along the way. I opened SFC Martin's gift when I got home because I didn't want to slam glass after glass of Balvenie 15 year, and I figured that no matter what it tasted like, nothing could make my day worse.

i am pleasantly surprised by the Toasted Caramel Black Velvet. It needed some ice and a splash of water but it's actually very smooth and not overly sweet -- from the initial smell I figured it would be up there with that fucking whipped cream vodka that all the Privates drink straight from the bottle.

In a cup of strong coffee this would be outstanding, and if I put a couple of shots in a mug of hot chocolate I might need a warm washcloth and a cigarette before I was done. It has earned a place in the liquor cabinet as a winter staple. I'll give it a B-. Will drink again.

Old Fashioned after a long day at the office. Used Wild Turkey 101 and regular and orange angostura bitters.

Didn't peg you as the renting furnished type, and from a distance they look nice. Are the leather quality and construction good?

Why not? I'm not going to spend any money on furniture if I don't know where I'm going to be a year from now. Renting fully furnished gives you the option to move at any time with minimal costs.

Yeah, no expense was spared on this flat, or at least much more was spent on it than your regular rental unit. The kitchen is top notch and very modern, the couches are very nice, the dining table is a massive and very old door from a Riyad in Morocco and was driven all the way from Marrakesh to London. Fits about 12 people. The floors are the original hardwood from when it was an office building in the 50s.

Not even the bed is yours? Would feel like a hotel to me.

Nothing is mine except for my clothes. Actually, I own two Phillipe Starck ghost chairs, but I can sell those very easily, and they weigh like 1kg each.

No one I know my age owns anything, we all rent fully furnished. I'm not tied down to any geographical location. I've lived in 4 countries so far, and I'm sure I'll add more to that list. I've moved 8 times in the past 4-5 years. Why would I give up all that freedom just so I can own some furniture?

Hibiki 12 tonight. First time trying Jap whisky which a friend brought back for me from a recent trip. Very pleasantly surprised at how nice it is. Nice balance of honey, fruit and spice.

You may wish to check with black light on your mattress to be sure. Or on second thoughts, maybe better not to know...

Am I drinking alone in this thread? Wouldn't be that unusual... I don't like sharing anyway. Dalwhinnie 15 year old alternating with some $4 Aldi cabernet merlot today.

I think I could be turning into fwiffo.

hey - try the Aldi Spanish Temparillo with the bulls head label - was fantastic last lot a while back. People driving all over town to get it @$4 - would have been $18 - $22 anywhere else.

Been there done that - they have two lines of the Tempranillo - the regular and the "Riserva". The latter is a bit pricier ($4.50 or something) but the ordinary one is the better of the two IMO and has won the awards. Never have any trouble getting them at my local.

FWIW the cab Merlot isn't bad either. Nor supposedly is their 30yo scotch.

Huh? How so? Single malt?

So I have a 1L bottle of stoli bought from my yesteryears. I'd like to use it to make some cocktails for Christmas. Although my family would like some creamy frappe, white Russian esque in a punch bowl, I'd rather do something a little healthier to watch my waistline. So far, I'm thinking something that's easy to whip up in a pitcher: Moscow mule, or bloody mary. Anything else?
