so apparently i caught Ronin's post late and there had been some heavy editing done when I saw it which made it seem less than kosher but not outright nazi. Thruth got to it first so we're reviewing the particulars.
 
Ronin has been banned for being an anti-semite. Leitmotif is next on the list unless he gets his act together.

I had meant the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that Scherensammler Scherensammler had posted literally above my post. But, yes, those are some of the fundamental skills that would make a decent moderator.

To be clear, I had meant in mind the gratuitous dissemination of anti-Semitic imagery and rhetoric, to say nothing of the frequent use of the "jew" (always tellingly in lowercase letters) as an insult by a couple of the usual suspects and more recently by Ronin and Jupiter (I think that is the name). Often this goes by without so much as a public warning and certainly without any real consequences for the anti-Semite in question.

Needles to say, I'm glad that you're finally taking charge of the situation with more than a slap on the wrist.

I was referring to the same post and article.

But if your point was that no moderator zapped that post, make a report citing it as anti-semetic.

The fact is that it was part of a larger historical conspiracy theory that was debunked a long time ago.

You are an academic are you not?

I did not zap it because it is not the anti-Semitic opinion of a member.

I intended to post links to the conspiracy and debunking and ask Scherensammler Scherensammler why he posted it. But I got tied up with mundane work.

You could have done the same using your fundamental skills as a member of this forum and an intelligent human.

If you are a forum-filter, report. If you a participating member, engage.

Honestly, zapping anti Semitic posts has been one of the key bits of moderation, and there hasn't been tons of that, just a few usual suspects. Just because there hasn't been a big public spectacle doesn't mean it hasn't been looked after.

We've exchanged pm's about this before, and I was pretty earnest that you are painting with mighty broad brushstrokes. I Think if you take a more nuanced veiw of our members you'd see it's not so definitive.

You can drop the attitude. It is your collective irresponsibility and nonchalance as moderators that has unnecessarily brought this issue to a boiling point. You should be apologizing at this point rather than self-righteously swinging your dick.

Your constant apologia for Scherensammler Scherensammler and Leitmotif is so preposterous and abhorrent that it isn't worthy of a serious response. It is, in fact, hard not to think of some other reason to your active participation beyond self-conscious banter and trolling. To think that this kind of reckless dissemination of conspiracy theories, anti-Semitic rhetoric and imagery, and other kinds of racism is, indeed, unbecoming of any human being. Why would it also need a well-formulated affirmation each time that it appears for the culprit to be actually warned? More importantly, if what is at stake are simply long-discredited conspiracy theories, what place do they have at all in a forum on "dressing well"?

This is silly, who says he was browsing the internet with his children? His children/wife only have to catch a glimpse of his screen walking past.
