NBA 2023-2024 Season

Nuggets win.

Now on to the off season dismantling of the Raptors.

People in Toronto are astounded anyone would pick up Fred Van Vleet...much less for $130M from Houston.

Raptors getting sued for hiring an ex Knicks person who copied a bunch of documents. Doesn't this happen in every job?

...still waiting for Masai to make some trades for the Raptors. A month out from training camp and we have...fewer players.

Raptors! We won all of our pre-season games without signing anyone to cover for Van Vleet. Home opener on Wednesday.

Okay. Raptors got rid of Van Vleet. Didn't really sign anyone. And now we have won the home opener and lost 3 straight. Did Masai really think we were going to get anywhere near playoffs without investment in the roster?

James Harden joins the Clippers who already have Kawhi, George, Westbrook.

Nick Nurse just served up some revenge. I'm waiting to see when the fickle Raptors crowds disappear and there is a fire sale of lower bowl tickets.

So Raptors shed their coach, some players and didn't trade or sign anyone and are 5-5. Nick Nurse goes to 76ers and is 8-1. Masai? Did you not give Nurse the tools and players to win?

Yes. Also, trying to make it like soccer.

Okay so I see you get to win an NBA Cup - whatever that is.

For footy on a national level it's because you play semi-pro or lower league (I guess G teams here) so you get Cinderella stories. It's all NBA teams just playing NBA teams here.

For footy Champions League it's because you get to see your league team go up against another country's league best. This is all the same teams again.

I can see from the league, advertisers, and club owners why they want more games but this is what's killing the NFL - too many games, too many injuries, a drop in quality, and not enough rest.

Ironically MLS is doing a best of 3 playoff this year between a higher and lower seeded team. Typically it's just home and away or lately sudden death. Now it's dragging the already comical playoffs where 66% teams qualify with huge gaps in between game days if you're good and too much playing time if you are the lower seed.

LeBron James scored 31 points as the Los Angeles Lakers won a thriller against the Phoenix Suns to win 106-103 and reach the semi-finals of the NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament.

The legend continues....

The man is a marvel

Raptors beat the Hawks at home only to play them again at home....kind of weird.

Raptors lost 10 of 13...what was the goal of this season retaining Siakam and Scottie Barnes but adding no firepower?

Detroit Pistons become the NBA’s first team to lose 27 straight games in a season

...and I thought the Raptors were bad.

OG to the Knicks looking like a wallet win for the Knickerbockers.

Fwiffo Fwiffo think Masai should have taken those 4x first round pics?

We lost to the Pistons. The Pistons!

I don't follow the Raptors religiously but my take is Masai has been waiting around for the perfect trade/deal since Nick Nurse and VanVleet were still around. At least he did something even if it was tilted toward the Knicks. Anunoby and everyone was else was shopped around many times. I was never sure what the strategy was. Siakam is getting older and there wasn't any help around him. On any other team he would not be a bona fide top dog - as much as we all have 2019 empathy for him.

Siakam out. We're giving up on the season?
why not? It's clear now that they were not going to pay him in free agency so at least they get something for trading him instead of sweet fuck all when he leaves Toronto.

Because last season seemed like the same thing and then Nick Nurse left. The aspiration of the team now seems to be let's try to make it to the final play-in playoff spot (and get blown out) and that's it.

The ship's been rudderless since Lowry left - not that he was the reason why, but the decision to move on from trying to reinforce what's left of 2019 to make a run deep into the playoffs.

Blame masai. He should have traded them both years ago.

I didn't know Nick Nurse picked up Lowry. Coaches sure are loyal to their players (or vice versa).

Raptors losing 10 in a row. That's Pistons level of futility.

13 game losing streak. At least Nick Nurse and Kyle Lowry came by so my friend could fill her Instagram with Lowry we miss you posts.

LeBron playing with his son in pre-season.

It was kind of depressing the US Olympics team was relying on him to lead and play lots of minutes. Hopefully the Lakers know how to use him at almost 40.

Wasn't he retiring if the Lakers didn't sign his son? Seems a small tiny gesture to keep the man around. He still has his moments to will a team to win but at 40 you have to think he's not *the man*. That's if he stays healthy.

On the other hand we are retiring Vince Carter's number. Why I have no idea. If we're going to retire the number of players who got their start and fame here but never won the ring and then went on to win somewhere else we're going to run out of numbers.

He is considered the most valuable draft choice ever for the Raptors.Led them to their first playoff series, and first playoff win amongst other things

The LeBron and Bronny show begins.

'Y’all ready? You see the intensity, right? Just play carefree, though,' father told son on the bench before they checked in, an exchange captured by the TNT cameras and microphones. 'Don’t worry about mistakes. Just go out and play hard.'"

Did LeBron ever play carefree? He's always seemed intense.

Bronny came on with just over five minutes left against the Cavaliers and scored his first NBA points on a step-back, 14-foot jumper over Tristan Thompson.

He missed a three-point attempt with less than a minute to play, while his father finished with 26 points, six rebounds and six turnovers.

...first NBA basket.
