But how will you know that your feelings are hurt if you are not on the internet? And how will you complain about your hurt feelings without blogs, Twitter and Facebook?

The ironic reality of the Washington Redskins moniker is that they took the name to honor the American Indian players on their team, of which there were no few.

I have never seen how "Redskins" was pejorative, anyway, and I do have some American Indian (Mohawk) ancestry. However, any Redskin who wants to call me a "Paleface" is free to do so.

Another bit of irony is that a number of predominantly American Indian schools use the "Redskins" name.

Woman has a point.
In Stanley's mind, the rebel flag ban is hypocritical, as she points to a rainbow poster with the peace symbol framed inside the school, located by the meeting place for the Gay-Straight Alliance, one of 63 clubs at the school.

"There are also kids offended by the gay symbols and the gay flag," Stanley said. She says they should either take down any image that might be offensive to someone, or allow everything.

Tackett says the two symbols are apples and oranges.

"There have not been any disruptions or altercations over that poster," Tackett said. "However, there have been cases of racial tension."

Tackett says students and parents can appeal for a rule change.

Stanley says she intends to do just that.
