The All-Inclusive Shoe & Boot Thread

Is this a scam site?

I was daydreaming while looking at pics of big John Lobb over lunch and found this:
http://www.mikehazellcarpentry.co.u...lue-museum-calf-uk-5-ee-8695-last-p-6712.html

If it's too good to be true it probably is. Brand new John Lobb for 50 GBP. Also, crazy sizing in the list like size 1 etc.

Please educate me as to what is going on here.

Some sort of scam. Here is another for the same shoe different colour, different range of sizes, but using Ascot Shoes eBay listing like the other one.

There is a website for le Boucher bio, a French butcher shop but with a .com website when I googled it.

Good find, but at least in your link they get the sizing consistent where-as in my link they list a size 2 U.K being a size 2.5 U.S and 4.5 U.S and a 5 U.S all for the same shoe. Also a size 8 U.K is supposed to be both 25 and 38 EU. Anyway, who wears a size 1 U.K in mens, so dumb. Not very bright scammers.

And having a price reduction from £146.82 to £50.72 is going to raise red flag for any John Lobb buyer.

Also, if you read the description you will see no mention of shoes, so obviously it has been copied for countless items, and it makes me believe that kids are probably paid almost nothing to list these items.

Actually, the description for the John Lobb is identicle to a pair of sneakers l just looked at.

Here's a lad from County Durham giving it a go, not impressed with his life story though, someone should re-write that copy and turn it something suitably epic involving working for Johnny Lobb Paris, bespoke this bespoke that, trips to see Maestros and collaborations with style influencers. Mind you, he'll need to put his prices up somewhat:

An example of Lidfort made in really cheap Caiman leather that will split and crack easily. Why?Look at the white bone in the leather, this causes the shoes to take the leather dye very poorly so lots of discoloration occurs, it also causes stiffness in the leather due to excess bone and causes discomfort of the shoes to the wearer because the boney leather doesn't allow the shoos to mold to the feet too well. It always pays to pay for top alligator, so don't skimp.

Vass using exotics.

The dreaded caiman leather. See all the bone in it and discoloration of the leather. Not so good - hard to break in and make comfortable and more prone to splitting.

John Lobb `fould'

I want to bookmark this post for a certain shoo that has gotten me quite excited in recent months, the John Lobb `fould' on the excellent 8695 last. It is an excellent looking monkstrap design on an excellent looking highly comfortable excellent fitting rtw last. The shoo may not be to everyone's taste, but this shoo keeps me awake at night. This is the monk l have been searching for years to find, the real ideal rtw manly monk because the last is perfect for the simple design. I have never seen a better looking rtw monk. The Church's `westbury' was a ripper, but this is even better!

Check out this beauty!

I really like John Lobb best of all the rtw English shoes. There are better finished higher end shoes (eg, the Lobb classic's soles aren't stitched as finely as EG and the soles aren't machine finished as nicely as EG) , but l like Lobb because of the lasts and fit and styles and colourings and looks of their various shoes. I hardly wear Edward Green and C&J and G&G, but l love wearing BIG Johnny Lobb because they are such special goodyear welted shoos. Every pair of Lobbs l have are eye popping in a way that other rtw pairs aren't. The lasts and colourings and styles are a thing of beauty!

Another amazing shoe is the Anthony Cleverley spectator on the `churchill'

A rare appearance of the John Lobb `fould' model again on the 8695 last. Selling on ebay for 50% off at a mere $6,000 U.S. Even if it was my size, it is still quite pricey for a machine made shoe, especially with the aussie exchange rate adding a further 2K to the price. Still, this seller prices things reasonable and isn't excessive like some.

Would LOVE a pair of these in croc or alligator, that would be amazing! Would be almost tempted to pay the 6K and be done with it.

The Shooman The Shooman what are your thoughts on cowboy boots? i was talking to a mexican guy tonight who used to import croc boots for one of the cartels out of texas. they'd run upwards of $5k a pair at some point. thought it was pretty fascinating they considered the quality and craftsmanship in the croc like we'd consider a pair of lobb's from paris.

They look nice. How's the fit?

Mine are all on the Hiro last. The 42s are slightly tight around the mid step, the 42.5 (pic) above have some extra room in the toe box. I am a true 42, but I think 42.5 fit slightly better

What do you think of the quality & comfort? Compared to what you wore before.

Yeah, there are groups of people who are right into cowboy boots and want them hand welted and made from the finest materials. The thing l don't understand is why the higher end alligator cowboy boots can cost about 12K where-as the top boots from Lobb or Lattanzi etc cost far FARRR more. Do the highend cowboy boot makers have much lower costs that enables them to charge far less?

I still have this maker in the `secret shoo world' that has agreed to make me a pair of bespoke handmade hornback crocadile roper boots. He will do welted boots with handstitched soles with wood pegged waist. He only makes one or two shoes per year, but he is the best maker of them all. I'll probably get a hyde from here:

The secret shoo world
The work of a super secret man from the private shoo world that few know about. Perhaps Australia's best maker. He makes everything by hand. He'll do super fine English sole stitching of 11 spi.

Who makes Paul Stuart's English bench-made shoos nowadays? The Shooman The Shooman , do you know?
Like Truth said they are Grenson, but up until recently the highest end ones were Gaziano & Girling which were selling for over 1K. Actually, these few remaining ones may even be G&G:

Hornbacks

Even this hornback chelsea would be great in the right circumstances. I really love the idea of hornback boots, i've wanted a pair for many years. I just feel that my craving for wearing hornback a few times per year needs to be filled. On some days nothing else will do except for a hornback. Life would be even better with a hornback than without one.

The perfect hornback by Black Jack boots, and nicely priced at roughly $4,000. Now THAT is exciting.

Shoes?

He used to have nice boots when he first came out with his chukkas years ago.

His prices are way lower these days compared to back then and it makes me wonder what changed.

They are Blake Rapid stitched, no?

I think he used to use Martegani to make his shoes though he has done some Sassetti collabs in recent years

An interesting post on a list of bespoke shoe makers and the prices they change. Some interesting makers l never knew about such as a girl called Saskia Wittmer, she makes a nice shoo.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9tCcUi93bQ

G&G bespoke now pretty pricey and more than John Lobb London bespoke, but they can probably charge it because of the image they give off. They are colourful and exciting and stunning like the French makers, but they have a uniqueness no other shoes have.

Shooey,

He is the wanker that tried to get a free pair of shoes off of Robinson Shoes when he had a disagreement with them.

His name is Jesper Ingevaldsson.

Ah yes, l had a feeling bad feeling that he was a bad egg and an annoying igent. The post reeked of igent. Very inappropriate going around to all the shoemakers asking for their prices and posting them on a list too IMO...that is really off. I think many craftsman wouldn't like his approach. I don't think they need these types of people visiting their establishments.

Yes I read that thread years ago about Robinson shoes, that type of behaviour doesn't impress me at all.
