The All-Inclusive Shoe & Boot Thread

The stuff Silvano Lattanzi makes never ceases to amaze me. I wonder why they would design rtw shoos like these. Like, who would want to wear such ducklings, and pay $$$$ for the privilege!

Shooey, I could see those shoes being worn by hipsters and those who think the 70's styles are cool.

Those single monks remind me of creepers. Different soles of course. But they really do have a 70's vibe about them.

The beige ones look like nurse shoes or orthopaedic wear.

Aren't those Lattanzi for Jil Sander?

I wish there was a retailer for the regular models of Lattanzi, those ones resembling the old Gatto's.

Yes.

would be good.

Lattanzi now has a website where you can buy his shoos.
http://shop.silvanolattanzi.com/shop/#

His sizing is weird according to the site, eg a size 8 U.K is a size 4.5 in Lattanzi.

Here are some pairs l really like in rtw, but the prices are extremely high. For example, a pair of wholecuts in calfskin are close to 4,500 euro while a rtw wholecut in alligator is 16,280 euro. Then again, shoo lovers will pay it because they want the `Lattanzi experience'. I really want to get a pair of rtw, but l really need to fly to a store and try them out. Forget about buying shoos online, you really need to try them on and pay full price.

Trying different shoos from different makers is an adventure because they all feel different and have different characteristics, so of course some will desire the Lattanzi experience or the Vass experience etc.

Here are some stunning pairs for sale on the site:

This is awesome!!! It's something different.

Here is a Lattanzi I absolutely love! If l get Lattanzi l want something with a strong ltalian flavour.

And perhaps the most weird Lattanzi shoo ever, the penis shoo

Seriously, who would buy a pair of shoos with a picture of a penis on them??? So silly. Weren't these for sale in Queensland Australia according to Journeyman?

ok thanks. the ones I saw had a wooden tag attached to the sole with Ralph Lauren embossed in cursive characters, any idea who make these?

I saw once a beautiful Jill Sander double monks, I am still regretting not buying them. I was told they were made by Church's

I don't like what I have seen from Kiton, to be honest.

In the daytime, I sometimes walk the streets like a common man, working a white collar public servant job. I drive a Volvo back to my home in Suburbia. Once at home, with the curtains closed, I pull a hidden lever. Smoke pours from hidden tubes in the walls, and a workbench is elevated from the floor. A hammer slowly becomes visible through the fumes, and a leather apron descends from a compartment in the ceiling. This is how I time and time again become… The Secret Cobbler.

This blog is about my journey as a complete and utter layman towards becoming a closet bespoke shoemaker. “The only problem” is that going into this project (as of september 2017), I had no previous experience at all in shoemaking, leather working, or any other related category of artisanship.

I have no experience with exotic leathers, so will ask a question at the lower end... has anyone here tried the Astorflex greenflex? My dessis just fell apart and Clarks' pricing appears a little insane now (plus their shops never have the originals in, weirdly)

Here Clarkes are too expensive for what they are. Day to day I mostly wear Roamers Desert boots as knock around footwear. Can't get them here so I order 2 or 3 pairs at a time and throw them away when the soles wear through. Surprisingly they last a long time. There are several styles of Roamers and only one style looks right - I'll look it up for you. Roamers are pretty cheap in the UK and run pretty much TTS so you can order by mail

First time I see this. What is exactly? There is not either grain or flesh on cordovan, what is the point of reversing the hide?

A lot of ladies are walking around with those contraptions at the moment. Dreadful.

Anyone has experience with exotic leathers such as reverse cordovan, python, snake?

Have you tried Fetlife?

My brother-in-law bought about 10 pairs before he flew back to Odessa. Things must be bad there on the shoe front.

Much improved.

Ms wanted to watch Winter Olympics Opening - so I decided to do something useful.

Fantastic! I suspect that darning socks is almost a lost art nowadays - at least in western countries.

I've got one of those wooden mushroom things tucked away in a box somewhere, too.

Its pretty easy and exactly right for watching TV. I have a bunch of shirts to shift wrist buttons on now. And a few more socks. 2 pairs of trousers to fix buttons on too.

I once had to darn a jacket. It was a favorite and a small hole appeared for no apparent reason (guess it got stuck somewhere and I didn't realize). Used some thread from the hem of the giacca itself and the repair was pretty much invisible... luckily it was unlined so it was easier to work from the wrong side of the fabric.

Yeah, he has probably spent over $50,000 on shoes over the last 12 months. I don't know who's money he is spending but he is certainly living it up like a very wealthy man.

I say amazing because those shoes are really nice.

As a SWD style boot, I like this Division Road x Viberg boot. Is based on a boot featured in Peaky Blinders

But at $750 I find it - and all Viberg boots - overpriced compared to other traditional US and Canadian workboot makers who are doing GYW or stitchdown construction semi-dress boots

It's horse ass but not shell cordovan. Finished to give that shiny almost plastic-y look
