I must admit, I think the impeachment of Trump is a mistake, I would have just let the clown disappear into oblivion.
I think everyone agrees that his conduct met the standards of an impeachable offense, but I’m also not so sure it was a good strategic move. Might be better to leave it to the courts, rather than add more fuel to the conspiracy theorists trying to delegitimize the government.
From what I’ve heard from the legal folks, criminal charges will be a difficult case to make and he would probably be aquited. Whereas the civil law suits against him, for his role in the attack, are likely to win (OJ Simpson, again).
That's exactly my concern. A large constituency of Trump supporters are rabid conspiracy theorists and this will potentially throw fuel on the fire.
Will this impeachment, if successful stop Trump from ever to holding office again?
You can't let that sort of behavior go with no consequences. It needs the most extreme punishment as a future deterrent. Its not even about Trump.I must admit, I think the impeachment of Trump is a mistake, I would have just let the clown disappear into oblivion.

That is a simple majority vote after conviction
Spot on.You can't let that sort of behavior go with no consequences. It needs the most extreme punishment as a future deterrent. Its not even about Trump.
Secondly, how on earth do you think he will just fade into oblivion? The spotlight is his raison d'etre
They're doing exactly as they've stated all along and cannot be construed in any other way. Eventually, the rest of the world will tire of it and start to think Hmmm, bit of a Banana Republic that wot with that Biden family malarkey going on.I must admit, I think the impeachment of Trump is a mistake, I would have just let the clown disappear into oblivion.
Even the Tech Giants are careful in the wordings of the ban i.e. it was interpreted by meaning that Trump was not inciting a coup d'etat.I think everyone agrees that his conduct met the standards of an impeachable offense, but I’m also not so sure it was a good strategic move. And a large of constituency of Hilary supporters weren't with the Russian collusion lies? To be fair, that was a paid for psyop from start to finish. That's exactly my concern. A large constituency of Trump supporters are rabid conspiracy theorists and this will potentially throw fuel on the fire.

Not high enough unfortunately. What do you think the chances of a conviction are though?
I appreciate that. Its just, is impeachment is the right way to go about it, especially given the loons behind him.You can't let that sort of behavior go with no consequences. It needs the most extreme punishment as a future deterrent. Its not even about Trump.

I'm afraid Americans are prone to conspiracy theories. They're doing exactly as they've stated all along and cannot be construed in any other way. Eventually, the rest of the world will tire of it and start to think Hmmm, bit of a Banana Republic that wot with that Biden family malarkey going on.

Do they really fear that a 78 year old Trump would be fit and agile enough to get back in the ring in four years time?
Trump can take this away: they believe he would!
He's not saying it to be informative. He's foaming the runway for his bipartisan bullshit which means any plans are going to get watered down real quick.Biden is right...
Biden is tapping noted China hawk Kurt Campbell as an Asia Tsar. I eagerly await Shoeey's tortured logic on how this is serving the CCP.
Maybe they buy into many conspiracy theorists, but what is better, asking questions and trying to find out the truth or just staying asleep and not questioning anything? The Trump supporters know election fraud happened and they are trying to find answers.
At the end of the day, they key thing is to judge a person by how he behaves. His head may be full of conspiracy theories and silly nonsense, but as long as he acts peacefully it is not a problem.
Who were these ratbags storming the Congress? Who knows....maybe some were Trump supporters, but regardless, most Trump supporters were peaceful on that day.
People can add fuel to the fire all they like, but normal people are going to behave themselves and only the ratbags will misbehave. Freedom of speech is o.k, and they can say stuff and shout conspiracy theories because that is their right, but it is the peaceful conduct of how we behave that really counts.
Don't be fooled into justifying censorship, that is what the authoritarians want. I posted a video about that in the Trump thread.
This is a good interview with Alex Jones who was at the rally on the day:
Brits don’t have anybody as loud as Alex Jones.
Ian Paisley in his pomp was a match. The woman on the video with Sky’s Bolton, posted here a while back, could also do loud.
Jones is also a snake oil salesman. The stuff he tries to shift on his shows including genuine quack medicines.
He can make some valid points but listening to him is very hard work.
Still waiting on my commission checkI feel like this was written bydoghouse

Can Joe Biden make America great again?
His skills as a fixer are finely honed – but they cannot restore a pre-Trump normality. As president, Biden’s private self, shadowed by loss, must come into its ownwww.theguardian.com
btw, no-one has covered the 2020 election like NTD. The other news outlets can't get near what this channel has done. You will not hear this type of stuff on mainstream media because they are bought and paid for.
If I ever joined a cult, I’d at least want orgies and some cool robes.
It’s interesting that Falun Gong have the wherewithal to fund a TV station. I think of them as an oppressed minority, but I suppose in a country the size of China even a minority can be a considerable number.NTD, along with The Epoch Times and Sound of Hope, was founded by Falun Gong practitioners who had immigrated to the West. Many of its staff are Falun Gong adherents who volunteer their time and services. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, president Zhong Lee stated that the company's original purpose was to "speak as the voice of Falun Gong", but that "media can also play a big role pushing democracy in China".
NTD is one of the organizations that Falun Gong founder Li Hongzhi has referred to as "our media", along with the The Epoch Times newspaper and the Shen Yun dance troupe.
I will say, whatever your opinion of Biden, everyone should watch his inaugural address. It was pretty powerful.
