Everyone likes to exploit their Irish ancestry. I know I do.

Off-topic: Pre-internet and Ancestry.com days, my father was big into his Irish ancestry, but then someone told him that our surname was actually Scottish. Then he was all Bonnie Scotland/Brigadoon/Ossian poetry.

It turns out the surname comes from Cornwall and was founded by a great great great grandfather who
had been a railway signalman who moved from Cornwall to work on the Manchester Ship Canal in the 1890s. Clearly good money for a young man who wanted to get ahead.

My grandmother who was a little bit posh, turned out to be proper Liverpool Irish with her family clan being founded by a young 14 year old boy who got out just before the famine in 1844.

On my mother's side there's an Irish surname, but actually is to this day the most popular surname in Glasgow. My sister did one of those genetic tests it was 30% + English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. With 1% Viking hoards from the distant past. Zero Welsh which disappointed me.

As mongrels go, we're all part of the life's rich ancestry.

I had an uncle that was huge into genealogy, tracked us back to the manor house in England and all that. Apparently I'm also the whitest dude ever, practically clear. 99% British Isles, non Celtic. 1% Franco-German

The racial equity act divides people into groups and tries to make an egalitarian society. The problem is that identity politics comes into it, and it means some groups/races will need to be pushed down to make room for others to have opportunities. This all involves racism and discrimination. This is why identity politics is so evil....it creates women v's men, one race v's another race, rich v's poor etc.

The CCP adopted these marxist principles in China during the 1950's, and much bloodshed resulted. The slaughter of groups like the rich was seen as a good thing because the marxists argued that it was making society more equal. The spiritual groups were also killed.

The racial equity act sounds virtuous on the surface, but slightly underneath it is heavily racist, divisive, creates hate, and is discriminatory. These are typical policies of the left and why the left is so evil. It strays from tradition because it is marxist doctrine trying to FORCE outcomes.

Another tradition Trump brings back is not allowing mothers to legally kill their kids. Right to life. There are lots of traditions tied into that too, which lead into marriage and traditional roles and the family bringing up the kids instead of the state etc. So many things can be brought up.

There is also religious freedom that Trump promotes. If Biden has his way the conservatives and spiritual types will be classified as terrorists. Why? Because he promotes marxist doctrines which are athiest in nature, and the evil nature of his policies will slowly create a society where God is eliminated and only approved thought by the government is allowed. It is almost this way now.

I could go on and on. The people on the left aren't necessarily evil, but the policies they follow are evil. They have been conned. I really hope people wake up.

I don't know about the US, but various other countries have been able to enforce travel provisions, such as showing that you have taken a test within the past 24 hours before taking a flight in to the country and then quarantining for 14 days after arrival.

It doesn’t fit the doomsday cult narratives and it shouldn’t make a difference either way when it comes to a political leader’s public life, but there it is.

A large number of American bishops want to chew gum and walk at the same time. They prefer to support the administration on issues where they agree and oppose it where they disagree.


An excerpt from the article, this here encapsulates why most sensible have less time or tolerance for such hypocrisy. And this is from both sides. Just like the backwater religious right nutters who essentially worshipped at the altar of President Trump to these current lot.

He certainly doesn't agree with certain elements of Catholic doctrine. His support for abortion being one.

This got Jacob Rees-Mogg into trouble.
 
Or like most politicians of all stripes, he might privately agree with it but politically, it is a major headache for him to even touch that! Hence, the hypocrisy.

Hmmm... I always thought that Catholicism is one strand of Christianity - Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Protestant (with a whole heap of different subtypes under Protestantism) and so on. After all, they all believe in the holy trinity, that Jesus was sent by God, that Jesus was resurrected etc etc.
 
The apostle’s creed says that “we believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church”.

If you sign on to that, you are a catholic IMO.

It's all rather complex and disappointing, I refer to the religious bigotry in Northern Ireland and in Scotland which is crazy considering it's the same God and ultimate religion. Much akin to the Sunni/Shia divide. Medieval shit that has no place in the modern world.

My kids are in the Orthodox Church which I find very spiritual and focused on being so.

But case in point: Biden has stood beside Irish terrorists who nominally Catholic, but Communist ambitions. And I qualify that: one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
