The Canvas: A Proper-Fitting Shirt

I did try Individualized in NJ, which I think is used by Ratio. But my god their smallest armhole was way too large. I would have probably used that armhole for a size 42 or 44.
Now that you mentioned, I checked and, to my surprise, Camicissima offers the option to choose from 3 types of sleeves: regular, slim and X-slim. Gotta try this, I hope it's not a website translation mixup with body type.

Maybe you find a similar shirtmaker in the US of A.

Woo, prices real hot.

What specific cloth they offer?
There in lies the problem, F.G. van den Heuvel offers a very small range of Thomas Mason's, likely less than 25 in total. Other alternatives, I'm told in Amsterdam and Rotterdam are similar.

Then you have Ettemadis which will have cloth from every mill available, but you'll have to pay up front and go and get your multiple fittings, wash the first shirt and bring it back for examination and obviously you pay top up-front Euro-dollar.

I mean who pays their tailor up front?

The size of the armhole and sleeve are close to independent of one another, although there is a slight relation. By contemporary standards, I think my sleeve is large, but the armhole would definitely be much smaller than what you normally see out there for US brands.

I assume most Italian brands use a smaller armhole; did this retailer give you any options there?

This open weave Harvie and Hudson shirt has grabbed my attention. I will email them on Monday for further details. They seem overpriced even in the sale...

I should put my cash aside for Sea Island cotton Aposta shirt that has a summer discount code...

Think you're best to put your cash aside for the Sea Island...

Last Autumn I bought a couple of Harvie & Hudson shirts and turned out they weren't that exclusive to them and they are really tight on the wrist. Unless you sport a wafer thin Quartz they're just not right.

Still forecasting some 26-30C temps this week, but if it's like last week, the closer we get to the date, the temperature forecast reduces. Already we're getting cooler nights and mornings.

Going to do a bit of shirt ironing...

English Sports Shop Bermuda, madras plaid always a winner:

T&A diamond cut, a decent cool fabric for when it's super lekker hot:

And J.P Gaul's favorite shirt maker, Mercer & Sons, the James Bond tattersall broadcloth, I'll wear this when the season changes:

He was well sussed on them, they do last forever...

Well H&H never replied, same with Aposta. I probably missed their summer discount now. Imagine a MTM shirt website that doesn't allow you to select sleeve lengths. Anyway I have ordered more Kilgour shirts from Malford...

How many dress shirts do you guys have? I literally have hundreds and can't stop buying more. I am creating a walk in wardrobe in my new apartment, so will be interesting to see how many I actually have...

I have about 25-30 or so, for roughly 3 seasons (summer, mid season, winter). Every season I swap out a few old ones and replace them with new ones

Seek help. Having hundreds of nearly anything is a serious issue.

At least a hundred++ here and I got rid of a load back in Autumn of 2015 when I went up a neck and chest size.

Run out of wardrobe space for shirts and jackets, so I keep some of the shirts stashed rather than hung and keep about two dozen ironed and on hangers in the wardrobe. Then I rotate and keep changing, so I might wear a shirt twice in a couple of weeks, but it will soon be back in rotation. You can always keep chugging along quite nicely like that without getting bored with any individual shirt.

Guessing at a hundred and fifty. I bring summer shirts down from the loft in spring - madras, seersucker etc. In the autumn I change them over for winter shirts - flannel, tattershalls, Oxfords. Seasonal shirts I double fold and store in drawers like so:
The video shows tee shirts but the method is good for collar shirts as well.
Shirts that could be worn at any time of year - broadcloth, poplins etc hang in the wardrobe all year round.
