Am I the only one who thinks Club World Cup is another cash grab from FIFA? What was once a test run of venues and readiness for World Cup is now an extended (or forced) season for most footballers. For us in North America, we suddenly break our regular season for it. Baffling.

Busquets retiring at the end of this season. I guess that solves Inter Miami's problem of having 4 designated players (Messi, Rodrigo, Alba, Busquets) and playing merry go round with who takes a pay cut that season for the club to comply with the salary cap + Suarez just happy to get paid anything.

I gave my tickets away to a mate of mine and his daughter. The latter is a massive Lionel Messi fan. Strange to watch a home game from the tele but it was hardly a home game as most fans were in black, pink, Argentine or Barcelona kits even amongst the supporters section.

Inter Miami will need to be lucky to win the MLS Cup. They have a porous defence. I am confused about Rodrigo De Paul’s addition. He said he was coming here to protect Messi. From needing to track back? Certainly in the one match I didn’t see how he justifies kicking Busquets off the high wage designated player bill next year. He doesn’t advance much either.
