Campaigning on ‘at least we aren’t as bad as the other team’ only works if you actually win elections.

For the record, this was something done during the George W Bush presidency as a protest against the Iraq war. Then we reconciled and stood for the anthem. And then somehow I see people including a mate of mine take off their hat and cover their heart. Never understood why.

Trump doubles down on floating Canada as 51st state amid tariff dispute

“‘What I’d like to see— Canada become our 51st state,’ Trump said in the Oval Office when asked what concessions Canada could offer to stave off tariffs.

‘We don’t need them. As a state, it’s different. As a state it’s much different. And there are no tariffs,’ Trump said. ‘So I’d love to see that. Some people say that would be a long shot. If people wanted to play the game right, it would be 100 percent certain that they’d become a state. But a lot of people don’t like to play the game. Because they don’t have a threshold of pain.’”

This is a revolution of the elite. Trump and Musk aim to gut government. Their intent is to emasculate the one force that can counter the excesses of the powerful and the wealthy. While Trump yearns to be a strongman who commands all corners of the government and demands absolute fealty to his whims and desires, Musk seeks to weaken the one entity that can check corporate power and abuses, including his own.

Everyone knows that the US government always has been a shining example of curbing the excesses of the powerful and wealthy.

Oookay. He is rightfully elected. It wasn't a sham election. It's a one term presidency. Mid terms are coming up and incumbents usually lose either the upper or lower chamber or both. The swing in seats for the House is razor's edge close (thanks Gaetz and people who got picked for cabinet).

It looks like if you stick your neck out from now till mid terms bad things will happen to you because even though he says he isn't out for retribution the behind the scenes actions are exiling and punitively punishing those who dare oppose him (the Coast Guard admiral lady, Milley, etc.). As a sitting Democrat, why bother with the pain?

You could go the court route but eventually it ends up in the Supreme Court and they were siding with him before he was elected.

I don't see anyone willing to martyr themselves.

A retired Republican aristocrat has more fighting him than the Dems

"in four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote"

"There are some things we can do. But the Republicans are in the majority in the Senate and the House. We're going to need some Republicans, frankly, who are willing to lose, who are willing to be a Liz Cheney and say, I will lose my seat to do the right thing by this country, not the right thing by Donald Trump. I haven't seen it yet. Let's hope."

Dan Goldman D-NY

The way to defeat the Republicans is through the Republicans themselves. Genius!

“In a blistering speech on Friday, U.S. Vice-President JD Vance told European leaders ‘there is a new sheriff in town under Donald Trump’s leadership’ and warned governments that internal threats to democracy, like election cancellations and censorship, are greater threats to their countries than external antagonists like China and Russia.”

“I’ve heard a lot about what you need to defend yourselves from and of course, that’s important. But what has seemed a little bit less clear to me … is what exactly you’re defending yourselves for?”

“If you’re running in fear of your own voters there’s nothing America can do for you.”

Tell it like it is hillbilly.

Germans are mad at JDV, insisting that they love their Nazis too:

German Defense Minister Pistorius calls J.D. Vance’s comparison of European democracy to authoritarian regimes unacceptable.

“In our democracy, every opinion has a voice. It allows parties, even extremist ones like AfD, to campaign on equal footing with others. That is democracy,” Pistorius emphasized.

He also pointed out that Alice Weidel, AfD’s lead candidate for the upcoming elections, appears on German prime-time television, underscoring the openness of the democratic process.

"The termination letters for some NNSA probationary employees are being rescinded, but we do not have a good way to get in touch with those personnel."

"Please work with your supervisors to send this information (once you get it) to people's personal contact emails,"
