The Next Election, Political News, and Other Forms of Comedy (US, UK, & Intl)

I don’t have a Twitter account to validate this, but I hope it’s legit:

Deport! Deport! Deport! I just watched The Daily Show episode this week with Jon Stewart. He posted some quotation that Miller asked ICE to check Home Depot and 7-Eleven.

Whoever runs this account should get a Silver Star for keyboard warfare. They really have been firing back fast and hard all week.

“I think you wouldn’t have a war right now if y'ou had Russia in, and you wouldn’t have a war right now if Trump were president four years ago,' Trump said.' They threw Russia out, which I claimed was a very big mistake, even though I wasn’t in politics then.'"

“It’s not a bad idea. I don’t mind that if somebody wants to see just China coming in.”

South Africa, India and Brazil are already there. Why not have China and Russia too. We'll call it BRICS plus US with Mark Carney as the greeter.

You forgot Sheinbaum, Albanese, and Zelensky who showed up for the big dawg but were disappointed not to have had their one on ones with him.

"'How many people live in Iran, by the way?' Carlson asked the Texas Republican.

'I don't know the population,' Cruz responded.

'At all?' Carlson asked, prompting Cruz to reiterate that he did not know. 'You don't know the population of the country you seek to topple?'

Asked again how he did not know Iran's population, the senator responded, 'I don't sit around memorizing population tables.'"

Are we going back to that time when US politicians were quizzed on..I forget what it was, country's leaders, country's capitals.

Facts don't matter anymore - feel pinions is what it's all about.

Bomb them - yeah, that feels right.

“A second official said the Prime Minister is serious about ensuring that top echelons of the public service meet his high expectations. He’s made it clear, for example, that he expects cabinet ministers and deputy ministers to show up on time for meetings, to be well prepared and to have answers to his probing questions.”

Showing up on time and being prepared for meetings. I thought that was the floor for basic professionalism in a workplace.

“'Daddy has to sometimes use strong language,' Rutte joked while pumping his fist, defending Trump’s use of an expletive to admonish Israel and Iran the day before."

Is it customary for the NATO chief to call the US President daddy? Come to think of it is there an appropriate time for a grown adult man to call another grown adult man daddy?

Sounds like I can continue holding my US stuff including T-bills. I always thought Bessent was the rational one of the lot.

“That would include babies already born and babies to be born in the future, as well as their parents, he said.”

Already born? Can you retroactively lose citizenship?

"'It's very simple. Prime Minister Carney and Canada caved to President Trump and the United States of America,' Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a daily briefing.

Leavitt said Trump 'knows how to negotiate,' adding that 'every country on the planet needs to have good trade relationships with the United States.'"

Let's recap the week for PM Starmer and Labour.

A revolt amongst his own party that he couldn't pass legislation with a majority in parliament.

A crying chancellor sitting behind during PMQ.

And the gilts increasing double digit basis points because of Truss like unfunded promises.

What will the remaining 4 years hold for Britons.

"Signs in the State Department hallways on Friday read 'Last Stop, Badge Turn-In' and 'transition day out processing,' directing employees with large arrows this way and that. A large TV screen outside of the State Department cafeteria flashed with messages for employees displaying human resources websites and phone numbers for help in preparing for the mass reorganization."

Imagine making a wrong turn today in the office...
