DOGE claims to have found social security payments made to people who are 150 years old, and because they're not auditors, they claim it's fraud.
The system uses a dating standard called ISO 8601. If there is an issue with the date, it will default to 5/20/1875.
If they were auditors, this would tell them "hey there's an issue with the data here" and they'd get the data issue resolved. But because they're not auditors, and this isn't an audit, they immediately pretend it's fraud.

They are looking at civil servant salaries and social security payments, not the massive defence and space contracts: it was never about efficiency, fraud or reducing the deficit.

The idea that a couple of doge techy teenagers can do an audit of Federal agency in a day by plugging into their server is laughable

true. it was the Biden administration that put out the expression of interest for electric armoured vehicles and Tesla was the only outfit that chose to submit. No contract awarded.

pedantically, you are also correct about subsidy not being correct, but one easily gets the gist.

The Biden admin put out the expression of interest for an armoured electric vehicle. Given that General Motors already has a division dedicated to producing armoured vehicles for the government, the contract probably would have gone to the electric version of the Cadillac Escalade IQ, but this week the State Department changed it to specifically name Tesla. Because, you know, Elon. They’ve since walked that back a few times - first to drop Tesla and then to pause the whole deal once the NYT wrote about it.

Subsidy, sparkling kickback, whatever you want to call it. I think we all see what’s going on here.

The evidence is weak, but I’m definitely not ruling out the hypothesis. Every action he takes is motivated by:

Personal greed/ego
Strengthening Russia
Weakening the US

Certainly consistent with someone compromised by Russia, though the strongest argument against is still that he is too dumb to keep his mouth shut about it all these years. He wouldn’t told someone, if he had a Russian handler.
