Kyiv is a war zone light (would it be called diet war zone in the US?). If you politely ask the Russians in advance, it is no war zone at all. There is a politician visiting every day, hundreds of backbenchers go there, visits that aren’t even reported outside of their own social media accounts. Everyone needs to have a picture taken there, even without the coke head. Additionally, there are like 10 buses daily from Berlin to Kyiv, they are usually fully booked, need to be reserved weeks in advance. Not even the Ukrainians seem to care about this “war zone” and they don’t even get Russian support.

The two aren’t mutually exclusive: the US has been meddling in Latin America for more than a century and Latin America has, largely, refused to side with the U.S. In European and other wars outside of their sphere.
