What Are You Wearing Today?

One of the nights at the NSJF I'm thinking of either a Trojan Records t-shirt, but maybe a Blue Note one is better themed, or a military one, with an overshirt/chore jacket:

Blue Note and Trojan Records are always a winner, as they're eternally hip.

We have to spring for a new cell phone with a better camera. When the light hits you it’s like we’re looking at two different outfits.
It’s an 11. Use you imagination. I posted the two different pics just for you. Would you rather I whine about my fucking hamstring?

Maybe we change the name to Used-to-Be-Dressedwell-but-most-would-rather-debate-Covid-and-Jordan-Pedoface.

I quit this tacky forum and I’m going back to SF.

I expect to see you writing for their blog shortly. ‘farmer chic - the hot new trend for 2023”

Calm down. Don't forget Shooey has awarded you Big Shoo Daddy status on here. Can SF match that?

Relax, “quitting this tacky forum” is a Dressedwell meme. I am being facetious. Sorta kinda.

However, SF still has a menswear focus, which this joint has sadly lost. Just sayin’ is all.

I think it's more a matter of guys with an interest in dressing well talking about things in addition to that. That was also one of the strengths if the FNB Wardrobe.

There's only so much waxing-lyrical about the beauty of the peak lapel that you can safely do...
Oh, I see, we have reached post-menswear status. Cool, cool. All y’all carry on with that.

Assuming the first pic's colors are closest to reality, I dig a lot the triad tweed jacket, flannel trousers and wool (?) tie. Would like to wear similar myself but my work's too much city&industry, so haven't developed the wardrobe much on that line. As I'm not savvy with chest pocket, I'd tend to keep it out of this outfit.

shorts, no tshirt, guayabas and a huge beer in the beach.
Hope you've got your factor 50 on?

Was in the full jacket and tie today, the missus was like ''Thought you we're going more sporty these days?!'' Don't worry baby, I will be back in The Fighting Seabees mode tomorrow morning. In the time of the search for energy security, you need to look like you're engaged in the design, engineering, procurement, manufacture, installation, commissioning and operations that will take us to the promised land of cheap, reliable and abundant energy, delivering us from those suit and tie guys in the Kremlin. And I might add, Merkel in her Chairman Mao/Hilary Clinton trouser suits.

It's time to get at the pointy-end.

You’re too kind
I’m a big fan of the early 60s Rat Pack Italy meets Las Vegas modernist style, so you’ll always win me with single button, notch lapels (though obvs this has some more English and other features).

This looks nicely casual, comfortable and practical for summer.

I’d still go with a different pocket square though.

That look does tend to work better when you have Sammy Davis Jr's build, as opposed to a retired front-rower who's started lactating.

Nothing says class like a middle aged bald man in a pastel record label t-shirt.
Good job I didn't buy it then. Did get the RRL with the tiger biting the arrows though. Lkely wear that at the NSJF on the Sunday night. With a denim-linen chore jacket of course. Don't go less than jacketed in public.

It's 5 years since we last went to NSJF on the Birdland Tickets. It's worth it for the easy access parking alone. But you don't get much extra - free Heineken, some dubious young New World wines, the food is just finger snacks served intermittently and then the gifts are just NSJF branded coffee mugs.

It's more of a retro-soul event this year. Last time there was still some old school, Lee Konitz for one. But his ears had gone and kept on chastising the sound man to get it right. Sounded good to me.

Still thinking of getting a Trojan t-shirt, if it's good enough for Ringo Starr...

Wore this out the other day - honestly not too happy with the suit. Putting it down as an expensive learning curve!
