What TV Shows Are You Watching?

Not that many good ones at the moment. Plus, some shows need a few episodes to develop.

Nothing is going to make me watch 1 second of that dumb show, just like I am done with Archer, and 40% of any Americans episode that deals with Page. I'm busier than ever, and there is too much good stuff out there to not bother with junk.

Speaking of... Silicon Valley. Starting that waterski run up to jump that shark. Plot is getting unnecessarily outrageous, and they are focusing WAYYYY too much time on the Chinese kid.

So what are you watching now that you actually DO like?

We had a really solid run in TV for several years, and I worry it's peaked. Silicon Valley has lost it's mojo. The American's cant stop with Page. Shows keep obsessing with boring ass female centric plot lines.

Honestly, at the moment? Watching nothing. Even documentaries have gotten stale.

Too many writers with no talent flooding a space that has gotten too full of mediocre stuff. In addition, everything is being product placed with liberal manifesto.

Game of Thrones better be amazing, or the resurgence of TV is dead much sooner than it should have been. That dumb show you were pushing was so bad it's unbelievable.

Jack Taylor on Netflix. Irish PI. Good shite.

Mmh might try it
Do youse get Oz stuff on Netflix?

Jack Irish is a good Melbourne PI series

kind of a filler american gods episode today. i find the wife to be exceptionally unlikeable. not sure if that's how she's written or not.

Twin Peaks Then and Now

Age is cruel. No one except that Asian lady looks remotely the same since 1990. Is this what happens to people in their 50s and 60s...70s!? All the men have hair loss.

That's exactly it. It's like one of those "making-of" documentaries where they show the scenes being filmed.

It's taking itself far too seriously now with its stark lighting interspaced between noir like darkness.

Watched the first episode of the Ken Burns documentary The War. Superb and the period big band swing sound track is excellent too.

Twin Peaks never worked for me the first time around. The setting of mood was great and then, nothing. Have you seen the then and now of The Breakfast Club? Then there was Ferris Bueller's girlfriend.....

I'm watching the season 3 of Fargo. Amazing as usual. One the best show of these last years. Top top intellectual quality with very archaic foundations. The incarnation of evil played by Thewlis is tremendous. GREAT! As my friend @TheRealDonaldDumb would say.

If Elizabeth doesn't get shot in the face before Americans ends I'm gonna be pissed.

Just finished the second episode of the Ken Burns The War documentary series. Absolutely first rate use of primary sources. The focusing on how WWII effected four towns in America brings it home. The best documentary series on WWII since ITV's The World At War.

I jumped into the season 3 of Twin Peaks. Utterly insane and brilliant.

Why are all the shows returning? Twin Peaks. Will and Grace. Roseanne (?!). Gilmore Girls.

WTF? Putting Twin Peaks on the same level as these urban rednecks TV shows makes no sense.

That's because my recollection of that show is about as good as my recollection of Cheers...barely anything.

First episode is a bit slow but stick it out and it grows on you.

Mr World was so creepy!

House of Cards season 5! I hope it's better than the previous season.

Rerun of The Avengers. 'The Gilded Cage'. Honor Blackman in the leather catsuit instead of Diana Rigg. She ends up on death row for murder.

Good igent dialogue between the butler Fleming and his criminal employer Spagge:-

'"The bowler, custom made Hemmings- St Paul- St James-?, beautifully blocked; not a penny under 10 guineas. The umbrella, Bolton & Son '63 model, slightly weighted handle, perfect balance; just right for a man of his height. And the suit! It's a dream. - Cut by an artist, possibly Smith Brothers, definitely Saville Row, 65 guineas 75."
Spagge: "Was he carrying a gun?"
Fleming: "A gun? In a suit like that he couldn't have carried another fountain pen."
Spagge: "Get on."
Fleming: "The shirt - south sea silk, made to measure, 10 guineas. Impeccably cut. The cuff links, Cavershon crystal - exquisite!"
Spagge interjects: "Fine with me, I've lost a button!"
Fleming: "Very good, sir. Charcoal grey silk hose; shoes, hand made teal St James, slightly antiqued, polished like mahogany, uppers and ways. Significant that!"
Spagge: "What of?"
Fleming: "Excellent valet service. It's a - the Sergeant miniature in the hall, he recognised it!"
Spagge: "And that's good is it?"
Fleming: "Good? it's excellent - a gentleman of obvious quality."
Spagge: "Shut up! I want to know about the man, not about the tailor's dummy!"
Fleming: "If I might say so sir, a more fitting companion than some of our more recent acquaintances."
Spagge: "I do believe you're a snob, Fleming."
Fleming: "Naturally, sir; that's what I'm paid for."'

True crime documentary about a murdered nun, this 7 part series is excellent. Ep 1 is setup, so stay with it. Ep 2 starts to unravel it all.

I was shocked to find that was the last episode of Better Call Saul. They could have come up with a better end to the series. They need to up their game next series.

I just finished House of Cards. The first half of the season was basically an extended campaign. I would have loved to know what was boy wonder's military service secret.

The second half of the season is basically how many sins of the past can come back to haunt the Underwoods - which after four seasons was getting to be quite ridiculous how many skeletons can come out of the closet(s).

How would you rate it on the whole?

American gods is getting better and better every episode. This episode was fantastic. Everything is just wonderful, the cinematography, the music, the dialogue, the acting, the story. Show of the year. A++.
