What's Making You Happy Today?

On Christmas Eve my cousin said her husband tested positive for coronavirus. They live together so it was a matter of time she got it.

On Christmas day her brother cancelled coming to the family dinner because he was coming down with something. No idea what virus. He's not dead. That's all I know.

On Boxing Day I met a friend and his family at their suburban home and then invited them to the city on the 29th. On New Year's he said he and his spouse tested positive.

So far I am still clean...

Apparently I have another refill on this prescription. I don't have to beg a nurse practitioner on my company's virtual health app for more drugs.

I'm happy that there was a final curve ball with this sales presentation but it seemed to have put pressure on this stalled conversation last year that now will get back on track because there are two companies wanting this to happen and not just one.

Rather happy in 48 hours I was polished and projected as much as enthusiasm as one can do with a PowerPoint slide and a 10cm x 10cm square on someone's screen.

I'm going to a party tonight..some art design something something with DJs, food pop ups and booze.

Went to a clothing store for the first time probably a decade. Both salesmen asked where I got my pants. One said it was better than what they sell. I was wearing pants I designed myself.

I did 29 of 31 days at the gym this month. I took a rest day today. The new year's resolution fatties are disappearing during 5a-6:45a.

I‘m involved in the most bizarre deal, possibly a scam, potential for an excellent movie script. Everything is there, a brilliant idea, absurd plot twists, exotic locations, a never-convicted lawyer infamously involved in a huge investment fraud, doorstep selling type sales guys, a bar, lots of money, etc. Only thing missing so far for a blockbuster movie is a beautiful women. Expecting her to show up momentarily.

this sounds interesting.

So you've met up with Sarto?

Going to an alumni dinner in person tonight. Last time I went was February 2020, and to be honest I would have shown up to the one mid March but they cancelled it at the last minute.

Since then they did virtual dinners but I only belatedly found out in January that they restarted the dinner series when university started their 2022-2023 semesters. I remember the chair for the dinner had been attending these since the 1969 or something. I don't know if he is still around.

It looks like they moved it to a bigger room. Before the reception and the dining room was so stuffy people opened windows in the middle of winter.

Also happy I had my glasses adjusted so I don't look like I'm using bi-focals when I look downwards. I got my shoes back from my cobbler. All those appointments I should have went to over Christmas and January but never did are nearly finished.

Randomly stumbled across another piece of public art that one of my friends helped paint. Almost end of the line on this subway line.

I made kilos of Italian baked pasta, pasta all'amatriciana and soup for my "daughter" to take back to her university. I really wish she would learn how to cook herself so she's not freezing everything and rationing it until her next return.

My tobacconist got a bunch of Djarum Blacks. They burn faster and are more expensive than what I usually buy but now I smell like a bunch of lovely cloves.

You smell like an Indonesian minibus driver or a 90s fat goth chick with daddy issues.

Tastes so good. Not used to the somewhat soapy tip. Burns very quick though.

Getting better at making french style omelette. I probably left it in the pan for 15-20 seconds too long off heat and because I was too busy stuffing it with cannellini beans left over from last night it didn't fold perfectly on one end.

Having not seen him for a few months, the maintenance chap decided to drop by and say hi after he returned from the Philippines where he has been since Christmas. I said welcome back to the cold and another nor'easter.

Hours and hours spent on this risotto paid off even with the cheaper wine that I used.

Air New Zealand are running some good flight deals, so we may get home again this northern summer.

United stop in LA and Sydney. air NZ is just one mid-way stop in Aukland. And they are running a great deal right now.

Oh right it's not a direct flight. It seems painful either way but maybe you'll get to see Jacinda if the lay over is long.

I made another couple of kilograms of baked pasta, pasta all'amatriciana, Marche soup and some braised carrots for my "daughter" since she is staying at uni for Easter.

Even though there is no AC at my place I am loving this 27c weather with sun. My eczema is disappearing. I am getting a bit of colour. My hands aren't so dry. My face doesn't need any moisturizer. Spectacular.

Why is the word daughter quoted?

She's not my biological child. She's the child of an ex co-worker who brought her to a children's Christmas party when she was a toddler.

Many events happened afterwards and her mother blames her interests, personality, temperament, and any other perceived vice or trait not belonging to the mother on me. The biological father was and continues to be busy with his theological fight against the western world order.

Super happy I'm getting between 6%-10% YTD return of the retirement investments I am allowed to control the mix for (2 of 4). Now I just have to regain online access to 3 of 4 and do the same thing.
