What's Making You Happy Today?

Finally it hit 30c and felt like it. Also less wildfire smog.

Sorry for the wildfire smoke. But I am happy I safely evacuated. Walls of flames, tunnels of smoke without light for km after km, blah, blah, blah. Enjoy enjoy your beach lounging!

Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you're safe somewhere.

I'm sure the Canadian CxO of this well known European reinsurer will be bitching again about wildfire claims to this friend of mine.

The rooftop bar across from my place has a dozen young women doing yoga this morning.

Oh shit! I just saw these. Is your place ok? How are you and Mrs Thruth holding up?

One of my "safe" assets I bought in November was a bond fund. I chose it because it had some mix of investment grade bonds to make it "safer". Anyway, it tanked 10% although dividends are still paying out at what I expect. They're now issuing more shares so I expect the price will go down further. Interestingly I get to subscribe for more shares before they are released on the market. I don't want to throw more money into something that's also losing. But you can actually sell your subscription rights on the market under another ticker symbol. I made another month's worth of dividend doing that. It lessens the pain a bit, but not a lot. It did take 40 minutes on the phone with this poor lady trying to make the trade for me.

It was a bit weird but I finally kept the CPAP mask on for 8 1/2 hours. Didn’t need as much sleep time to get the same sleep results.

Okay I'm getting used to the setup. I was able to maintain my oxygen level floor at 93%. Sounds low, but for me it's high given all the numbers I've seen.

My mother’s closest sister came by from the west coast to see my mother. It was hastily put together because we were the final stop before the airport. I said yeah let’s meet because you never know if it is the last time. It turns out their sister in law (my other aunt) who lives 2 subway lines away is alive, recovered and wasn’t refusing food and wanting to die. Miracles do happen.

I also got to meet a cousin of mine who is a good decade plus younger than me. I remember her as a little girl or just graduated uni, not some legal savant working in the States. She is doing well. Really proud of her even if I had nothing to do with it.

Those are bikinis. I don’t see any blazers in your creeper pic.

I was wearing one.

In my defence I only ended up sitting there because this fat woman wolfing down a sub sandwich offered a chair to me. I walked by and she waved me over. She was sitting in the one under the shade and I was sitting in the sun.

I gave my seasons footy tickets to a mate of mine and his elementary school aged daughter. They seemed to enjoy the game.

My free government dental care came through. I'm finally poor enough to qualify for it. When the program first came out I didn't see my dentist, who is downstairs in my building, support it. I thought what a shame, if I get it I have to go across the street to the one in the rail station. But luckily I became poor enough in the government's eyes just when my dentist also acquiesced.

I do have to pay $29 CAD for some extra polishing but that's better than my last employer's health benefits where I'm paying low 3 digits for just a cleaning. And if it's x-ray and checkup time (circa every 2 years) or they need to drill me, I'm in for mid 3 figures. And still the CFO was complaining the plan was too expensive.

Please include bikini pic of your dental hygienist

I went with a lady friend to the beach last time. No photographs. She already had issues with other women around me when she went to the washroom.

Took my mother to afternoon tea today.

Only 3 tables and one was a table of 3 Persian girls.

I finally figured out a way to make a dummy mobile number that can accept text messages so I can do two factor authentication with this "digital" bank so my mother can use her own mobile and I can still login from the other side of the world.

Power of attorney for a "digital" bank without physical branches meant ringing their contact centre, authenticating my own client ID, asking to speak to a supervisor, authenticating my mother and only be able to give verbal instructions or request statements to be sent by post.

On the fourth attempt I was able to get my mother qualified for the government dental care plan after my father applied and was rejected in January, and then I applied for her as widowed, married and single. Finally with little to no guidance other than "you're rejected" I fixed the government's tax/revenue system to say widowed and applied in this dental care system as widowed which caused it to drop my father's income from her qualification criteria resulting in her approval.

Which is a good thing because she has toothache.

I finally got trading access on my mother's main investment account.

The other 2 financial institutions are offering me 1990s telephone options. 1 remains outstanding.

I bought a bunch of these lovely eggplants slightly larger than a hand for only $1 per lb.

I was at the noon time concert for our local opera company and saw a soprano who was part of my university's program last year. Looks like she is sponsored in a new program. Some modern stuff, some French stuff, and a nice duet from Don Giovanni.
