What's Making You Happy Today?

I have only one gift to give (well...make) and it's Orthodox Christmas tomorrow.

Finally got my credit card bill/statement asking for money by 16th December 2024.

I made a tiramisu for my ex staff and spent a little over 3 hours round trip delivering it via subway, bus then Uber. I also made lasagne and a squash soup.

I thought the 3 plus hours meant I got a break from lifting old people and their mobility devices. But here I am on the bus lifting an old woman and her walker.

Some are grieving; some will dance on its grave. Hershey's Canada is reportedly discontinuing Cherry Blossom, the novelty candy that consists of a syrupy maraschino cherry encased in milk chocolate with bits of coconut and peanut.

I'm grave dancing. Giving this to a child is an insult, not a treat. Old people ate them when I was a kid. It is still fucking as horrid as pineapple on pizza.

One of my old work mates wrote back to me.... seems pretty happy even though he was made redundant back in October.

Garage door opener was really jerky and loud all of a sudden. Wife was upset that I wanted to try fixing it myself before getting warranty service. I figured out quickly it was just a bolt that had fallen off. I put it back and it works perfectly. Now I’m strutting around the house detailing all the incredibly difficult and technical repairs I had to do like I’m fucking Mr Garage Door Man, with a shit-eating ‘I told you so’ grin.

My Black Friday purchase finally arrived by post today. Labour strike bedamned.

My library card gave me free NYT and WSJ. I can read some of the links that y'all post from time to time.

You can read all of them with archive.is.
I have installed Firefox with Duck Duck Go as search engine plus plugins Bypass Paywalls Clean which fixed about 99% of news paywalls etc.

I also have Duck Duck Go browser - useful for some things

My usual every day browser is OPERA, for many many years now, it also has a built-in VPN - not fast but free and it's there at a click.

Bypass Paywalls Clean is a free and open-source web browser extension that circumvents paywalls. Developed by magnolia1234, the extension uses techniques such as clearing cookies and showing content from web archives

Archive.is has a Firefox extension if you prefer that route:

I bought something at a $2000 premium and I was able to get the premium difference down to $480 before I "broke even" in my brain. It's an insane price point that I set but someone actually gave me more than what I bought it for last night. Thanks random crazy person.

I cashed my $200 cheque from the provincial government which is now in the middle of an election campaign.

I was very worried grocers dropped guanciale within a two block radius of me. Only to find one of them moved it to another section.

Stopped leg presses for almost a week now. I still feel it a tiny bit when doing squats but I hope I can get back to the leg press machine this weekend.

Finally past 20c.

Also I got one of the banks to release my father's funds to my mother even without probate.

I finally did my usual weight routine using my left arm and shoulder. Let's see if it holds up tomorrow morning.

I finally creamed a decent pasta alla nerano.

I left the pasta water off heat for some time and when the pasta was added to the non stick pan I basically turned off the pan's heat and was able to slowly melt the provolone with splashes of water. So happy.

Really surprised I was not dinged for any account closure or transfer/processing fees for all of my old HSBC accounts.

It's 29c today. Doesn't really feel like it but hey people believed the weather forecast.

Finally it hit 30c and felt like it. Also less wildfire smog.
