What's Making You Happy Today?

Transwest Air. Saab

You mean a Saab like this one?

"Passengers and crew on a Regional Express aircraft flying from Albury in NSW have made a lucky escape after one of its propellers sheared off in mid-flight, narrowly avoiding hitting the wing and tail and forcing its pilots to make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport.

The Saab 340, carrying 16 passengers and three crew, was about 10 nautical miles from Sydney Airport when its right-hand propeller flew off, leading the two pilots to declare a PAN, which is one step down from a full-scale Mayday."

In-laws bailed on babysitting, but we still made it to see Willie at the Rodeo. Mrs Dropbear scored free tickets to a corporate booth.

We managed to find a very professional and responsible sitter who recently moved here from Brazil. My seven year old son will probably ask for her to come back when he's a few years older

I don't know how they do things down under but it's not customary in North America to ask for photographs to be attached to CVs.

Due diligence: once I checked her references and criminal background check I did a quick creep on her Facebook for any red flags. All jokes aside, she was a sweet girl and the kids loved her.

Willie is 83. Never really been a fan, but I figured this would be my last chance to see him. We were up in the nosebleed corporate box close to where Lady Gaga launched from. Can't say I really 'saw' Willie from that distance.

I've been taking yoga classes a few times a week for the past 3 months, and the difference it has made for my back is amazing, much more than the past 12 months of therapy.

I'm relatively pain free now, and with the decrease in pain my energy has increased massively. Where before I would've been exhausted after a 12 hour work day, I now have energy to actually do things. I've started weight lifting again, at first once a week but now three times a week. I've started learning the basics of programming as well and have written my first few tiny programs in C.

It's crazy how much of an impact pain can have on one's mood and energy.

You should let me know which service. My one and only plant in the flat also needs babysitting.

Look after your spine at all costs. Weight training does help a lot. Tennis balls are good as well in bed. Chiropracters are just cultists without charisma. And there may come a time when surgery is necessary, in which case, don't hang around suffering as it creeps up on you, the apathy, the stopping doing things and just lying or sitting there in pain. And if there's spurs growing into your spine, it's a one way ticket to an overdose of pain killers or a wheelchair. So take the surgeon's knife.

Does that mean you'll stop being snarky about my choice in Irish whiskeys?

Have you tried Redbrest and Middleton?

Did you recite diaspora poems?

He gave a speech outlining our nation's positive outlook that we are in a nation of diversity not exceptionalism as with one of our neighbours. We practice reason over passion even in acute situations. We gravitate towards centralisation but we adapt regionally in a vast and colourful country. Since we recognise two official languages, it gives birth that a third, fourth, fifth, mother tongues are not only tolerated but prized. He said we have to go through hell to get to utopia but the discourse against nativism and populist anger is happening, discourse on minorities and policing is happening, and all signs in our country are pointing to the positive. We gravitate towards peacekeeping not sabre rattling. We are a compassionate people.

You are resplendent in diversity! Diversity is our strength! Open borders please! Sanctuary to anyone and everyone!

Quite revealing that you "gravitate towards centralization" and that you are going "to go through hell to get to utopia" all sound socialist principles that have been well tested and will always bring human misery, famine and war. All part of the painful journey to get there. How very gracious of them to acknowledge the tough road ahead.

Speechless.

Found two cultural holy grail treasures today, both over a 100 yo in excellent condition. Buying for probably 5% of what I'd value it at.

1. Sunny weather in London.

2. My cherry blossom tree in the front garden has bloomed.

3. I got a couple of the new one pound coins yesterday. First I have had.

Astonishing, isn't it? I recall when London used to be soggy 360 days of the year. Early April and is 20 deg C, tomorrow to be 22/23 deg C. Horray global warming.

I bought a $6 iOS App to fix my corporate headshot. I did auto correct which seemed to airbrush my face a bit, reduce the amount of stubble and removed the bags I had under my eyes. I also used the face and jaw function to give myself minor virtual orthognathic surgery. I like the result. I couldn't give a toss that people might think it is disingenuous. If you are painting a landscape and you see a solar farm in the background do you leave the farm out?

Very LadyLike™

Would never have occurred to me.

I should talk to the photog who will do my portrait for the wall of ex-leaders.

Please photoshop me

I tried it too - was pretty happy with the result in the end:

Last night one woman dropped off some cheese. Today another woman gave me Italian baked goods and made dinner for me too. I probably didn't need to buy groceries given all these gifts.

Did you bang any of them?

Is this the basic tenet of marriage? Food for sex? You'll have to educate me.

It appears you have recovered, or at least your wit has. What's the prognosis?
Nobody knows. Apparently I was just a nervous wreck for that morning.
