What's Making You Happy Today?

How many different religions do you follow? Last week you were a Jew.

Btw - nothing says I hate you more than a non- liquor gift from a liquor store.

I'd be a scientologist if it meant I didn't have to spend time with this lot. I'm unhappy at work. Spending time to fake gaiety and niceties is pointless.

Were they new socks? Guess it's better than a bag of underwear.

They had Hugo Boss paper tags binding them together so I reckon they are. The chap came over three times today to wish me Merry Christmas until I said, "Get on with your holiday in Europe already." And then in front of other people he kept raving how suave and cool I was. This is all because he tagged along when I entertained my boss' old work mate from across the pond. Apparently simple things like uber amaze him. To this day, I still don't recall whether we do anything with each other at work. I remarked that I don't remember one request, meeting or e-mail that he sent to me yet somehow he remembers what suits I wear and which ties I have.

On the other hand an asset management company that I applied to in November finally connected with me for a telephone screen. Hopefully I get chosen for an interview next year out of the 300 candidates who applied for a director position. I guess there are a lot more directors than I thought.

Office beer exchange

I finished sending out Christmas e-cards. I mailed out all Christmas cards two weeks ago and I wrapped the last gift Friday night. I just need to run out and get some beer and even the alcohol for Christmas is complete. Now it's just delivering gifts under the tree and going to the family Christmas dinner.

Even though I have everything done, I still worry I'm fretting too much to really enjoy Christmas.

I put these in today. It's so godawful warm that I'm in chili AE Ashtons. Meant to be evocative of candy canes, but I dig the Buster Brown memories too.

Just had out christmas pud, in flaming brandy, (had a very nice desert wine with it). We have the Christmas meal spread out across the day - a starter around midday to keep us going, the main course early afternoon, pud in the evening, then cheese (or the other way round if we're feeling continental). Means you can eat lots of each without getting to stuffed at any one point.

A traditional steamed christmas pudding with flaming brandy being poured over it. Forgive the crappy photo, but it's a tricky thing to capture.

yeah about that. thank heavens I wear a tunic and not trousers, because right now my trousers would bind terribly around the waist. if I wore them.

Ok, I can't tell if she put you up to it or you're a willing participant. Of course, the end result is beer, so it really doesn't matter much I suppose.
a bit of both. I kinda wanted to but also realize that it's heavily trial-and error, and there are enough great beers for it to not really be worth the time, effort, and expense just to match something I can grab for $2 or so a serving. however, it's interesting to understand the process and carry it to completion.

Reminds me of the scene from Breaking Bad where the beer bottles explode in the garage and Hank thinks their coming for him. In Doom's case they likely are.

so, here's the plan:

1) I buy some good beer in a growler if possible
2) re-bottle it in my own bottles
3) MF Doom becomes a brewing genius.

Bought a top for a woman and it fits her. I'm good with knowing people's dress sizes.

I accidentally melted my KitchenAid mixer's power cord (how is a secret going to the grave) and a new one only cost $4.

I was trying to order a pocket diary from Gumps as I do each year.

http://www.gumps.com/p/gump-s-2014-pocket-diary

And the website was giving me issues, so I called customer service. Wait time was about 2 minutes, but then the rep was very helpful and corrected the problem immediately. Upgraded me to free shipping for the inconvenience.

It's a spectacular pocket diary, too. This will be my third. It's the perfect size to slip into a Jacket's breast pocket. I put it in my right side breast pocket, and it offsets the weight of my breast wallet on the left side so my jacket does not hang to one side. It is of very high quality. Made in USA, too.

Does it impede your flask?

Got home at 4am. Nothing like drinking scotch on and off for 10 of 14 hours and finishing up Chinatown.

Would be delighted to.

Going to a friend's house this morning to distribute Christmas gifts. And then heading to the pub to give the final one. The tree should be empty afterwards.

Incidentally I was at someone's office lobby holding a gift box for someone and a random lady walked by and asked whether it was for her trying to strike up a conversation. Rather flattered that I still get attention even though most women in my life moan about my hair loss, haggard looks after a night out and other signs of aging.

My longest-time friend brought his wife and daughter to our humble nation and we had a great weekend. Daughters got along well, we had great talks and meals, visited the Children's Museum. Sad to see the weekend end.
