All About Watches

wouldn't a left hand crown be worn on the right wrist for left handed people?

This is true. But I wear it on the left and like the LH crown because the crown and pushers don't snag on things when working. I also think it protects the crown and pushers more too

I'm experimenting on right hand and liking it- with right side crown.

It also seems more ergonomic to operate the chrono functions with the watch cupped in the circle between the thumb and forefinger, thumb works the bottom pusher, index works the top pusher. both arms are across my chest and my right wrist is not cocked awkwardly as it would be with RH functions. Seems more natural and stable. Even with the left arm outstretched, say on the steering wheel, it seems easier to push the lower chrono start pusher with the thumb rather than the index finger if it was a RH crown.

Could be all bullshit but makes sense in my brain

Anyone know about the Laco Dresden? I think it was replaced by the Aachen. Kinda like a better budget-version of Memingen.

Dresden... Aachen.... Memingen.

The mission of the Fifteenth Air Force on July 18, 1944, was to attack a series of different targets. The four B-24 wings, and their fifteen bombardment groups and sixty bombardment squadrons, were to bomb targets in the Friedrichshafen area of southern Germany, including the Lowenthal airdrome, the Manzell aircraft components factory, the Ober-Raderach synthetic fuel factory, and the Maybach engine factory. Four of the seven fighter escort groups, including the 1st, 14th, 31st, and 82d, were to escort the B-24s to, over, and/or from their targets. The 1st, 14th, and 82d flew P-38s, while the 31st flew P-51s. The only B-17 wing, the 5th, with its six bombardment groups, was originally assigned to bomb the Memmingen airdrome in Germany, not far from Friedricshafen, because intelligence reports showed it to be filled with 70 to 75 enemy aircraft, including Me 110s and Me 410s, "not too well dispersed." The report noted that the installation was used "for major repair and probably assembly. This makes the airdrome one of the highest priority counter-air targets." The 5th Bombardment Wing Intelligence Annex for its operations order for the Memmingen mission noted that if the weather was favorable, the enemy could and probably would put up 125 single engine fighters and 115 twin-engine fighters. It also predicted that between thirty and forty more enemy fighters might confront the bombers from bases in northern Italy.

Do you folks feel bad when the watch's original leather strap is replaced?

I inherited a watch from my late grandfather, who gave it to my father who subsequently never wore it and passed it on to me. It's still in usable condition, but I reckon in two years I'll have to replace it. Maybe I just have sentimental attachments to it.

I've only had watch maintained at independent shops in the financial district - usually run by some ethnic minority of another.
