iPhone13: yes or no?

Cracked screen on my X is annoying and it looks like I can get a partial trade-in if I go on a 36 month plan.
How does it all work in USA?
How much is a plan and what does it include?

I’m m a cheapskate with phones and plans.
I think the Motorola G30 was aud$250. Unlocked. Owned.
I’ve been on a special Aldi $100 a year plan, all you can eat text, phone calls and answer machine bank within australia. I use WhatsApp or Zoom for overseas calls and video.
Data has a limit but I’ve never hit the limit mainly because I have it default to home wifi as soon as it’s in range.

waiting for the new blackberry 2021. This is the only brand (with the exception on 1 Motorola timeport and 1 Nokia E61) I have ever used.

$80 a month for unlimited everything. Add an extra $12 a month to get a “free” new iPhone (best max whatever) if you sign-on to a 36 month contract. Give it a few months and the phone upgrade will really be free with the contract.

That’s a horrible deal

That means I can leave my iPad crying for the upgrade for another few months.

I just keep on delaying, but they sent me a message it will be done between 2am-4am tomorrow morning.

Only use my iPad as a controller and visual display on top of my hifi when I'm streaming.

Maybe it's the size of my mobile phone but I find most mainstream news and online media websites have more advertisements than content displayed on the small screen. I'm usually very careful not to accidentally tap and generate revenue for the content owner but now I find I inadvertently spawn pop up windows just trying to read a 250 word press release without any video or images.

I did the trade-up deal to give up my IPhone 10 for a 13. I’m only out of pocket a couple hundred, which is cheaper than buying a new camera - which is mostly want I want on the new device. Also upgraded my OG legacy plan from 2006

I ran into a brick wall with the AppleID but I’ve got half of the tech support team in the US trying to figure out what’s going on.

It might be time to buy a new mobile. My battery is dying here. Has anyone owned one of the Nokias? I was trying to avoid a Chinese one, one with a lot of installed apps (Samsung), and Apple.

Which pretty much means I don't have any choices.

Can you hold out until the iPhone 14 comes in October?

Yes I can hold till October. It's just getting annoying to recharge once a day beyond leaving it on the charger overnight.

You think I have 2K to drop on a mobile that is the AOL of mobile phones?

I have an old iPhone for my work mobile. Android for personal.

I have the latest iPad Pro or whatever the top line iPad is. But Apple always seems like you're either all in or you're not.

What’s so good about the next iPhone?

What’s so bad about iPhones?

I’ve stuck with Motorola Moto various versions, for the last 5 or 6 years. Cheap, reliable, android, you can pretty much take control and make it do what you want, not vice versa, and most importantly it’s not apple.

New iPos update:

Maps app icon now takes up a quarter of the screen - is button size really the way they plan to take on Google?

Can’t delete apps from the frequently visited section on the browser landing page (only remove the whole section). Who out there really wants that orange PH app in front of them every time they fire up the browser in public?

Bought this dark mode reader for safari and this thing has been an absolute game changer. It will even turn the forum on dark mode. Highly recommended if the constant white backgrounds are annoying to the eyes.

I went with one of those branded Nokia ones. It has 5G...intermittently depending on which location I'm in. I didn't even know I had a plan that had 5G enabled. It was frustrating to set it up from scratch but I managed to get everything I need whilst ditching some of the end of life apps I had on my other Android. The only thing that bothers me a bit is some of my playlists died because of invalid references to the SD card or internal memory when carrying over.

My father was a bit disappointed because he wanted to give me his iPhone 13 so he can buy an iPhone 14. I still don't understand why a retiree needs to be chasing this rubbish.

There is nothing else under capitalism than chasing the latest and greatest things to purchase.

How accurate is my mobile phone if I am still being recognised and authenticated with an N95 mask on?

the new ios update is supposed to have better mask scanning. maybe its working?

good for you for wearing a mask still.

Why does Google keep asking me to install their app when I do searches on iOS in Safari? Searching for a website needs an app?

I've had this can't install system update in Android since the weekend. When does it give up or finish installing? I tried some button mashing power off combinations as recommended by the manufacturer already.

My Nokia mysteriously installed the update right around the end of October. Now I'm up to date as of...September.

Work gave me an iPhone 7...4+ years ago. I'm still using it. It does a few things - calls, Webex, iMessage/SMS, RSA VPN token, corporate e-mail and calendar.
It probably does more than my work-issued iPhone X, which is locked down so tight I can’t do much at all with it.

A bunch of Finnish people bought it back from Microsoft and continue to use the Nokia name to make them.

I chose it because it seemed to have the least amount of Chinese ownership and stuff. It has Android One so it also doesn't come with a bunch of apps I never use.
