Famous People Who Died

😯

The genius behind the wall of sound and the best Christmas album ever. Shame he was as a complete lunatic.

Before he murdered that poor lady, he pulled a gun on Leonard Cohen during the Death of a Ladies Man sessions telling him to start singing properly. A weird album that, the songs are there somewhere amongst the dense production.

got to meet hank a few times. the man was a real gem and one of the nicest people i've ever met. the things he'd seen and been through would amaze anyone but it never went to his head.

Ah, iI's good to see the final collapse has befallen someone with whom I'm familiar, albeit hated, rather than some player in a 70s Euro band I've never heard of, the sort that often populates this thread.

King was a garbage broadcaster and a hunchback with a voice like a flushing toilet. The only tv host worse was every single person on Fox News plus Mika Brezinski.

^^ This wretched illness. After all, to be seen off by Covid-19. Sad but not entirely surprising. Once, he contracted it...

I just saw. It's crazy he was in his 40s for Sound of Music.

I saw him on stage, Broadway, in The Royal Hunt of the Sun. He was 35. I was 20. He was the best. Shitty play tho.

He was still doing plays in Stratford, ON a decade ago.

I can remember when Flynt started a gun magazine. He was kind of a fool: There would have been several very promising candidates for editor at nearby Petersen Publishing, not least of which would have been yours truly. However, he got a freelance gunwriter in Colorado nobody had ever heard of to edit it offsite (still a rare and questionable practice back then), and the magazine soon tanked.

Would I have taken a job with him? Probably not, he was such a scumbag. However, if he had offered me a salary sufficient to make a substantial difference in my lifestyle, it might have been enough to overcome my scruples. Can't say after all these years.

A bit of an aside, but have you ever met the gun writer Jim Downey? It’s sounds like you both moved in similar circles, though he might have been after your time there. These days he does the ballistics by the inch blog and is active in the Liberal Gun Club.

I have not actually heard Rush Limbaugh, though I am aware he would be classified as a ‘shock jock’.

That said, he gets a good write up on Breitbart. So I will give him the benefit of the doubt against previous comments here.

How does he compare to similar broadcasters? Anne Coulter for example?
