How can it possibly cost 40k? That must be 3-4 truckloads plus crew for 2-3 days, it is just a day on the road? How much junk do you collect in three decades with the military? And then when you pack and drive yourself, multiple times if necessary, how could this end up costing over 40k, "on the low end"? What about renting a house for 4.4k of 5k total income and then renting an additional appartment for 2.8k, which on its own seems too high for this income?
 
Was 4.4k without other perks as the instructor? Free canteen food?

They have two places on one pension income. Even when I moved I had a one month overlap to move from building A to adjoining building B; a luxury. I think fighting the moving expense coverage dug them into more debt to carry both rents.
