Was music allowed indoors?!?!?!
I'm amazed at how many reasonable individuals pass it off as, well only a party. It's so much more than that.

Sad, but true. No matter what, Boris, his missus and cohorts all have to go. But so long as he stays, the zero chance of any further lockdowns.

Where does his wife figure in all of this? Other than mothering their baby. She's not an elected figure.

"But the reports have done more than reveal potential rule breaking at the highest echelons — they have also highlighted a culture of heavy drinking in Britain and the outsize role that alcohol often plays in society."

“There’s a history of workplace drinking around the rhythms of working life: celebrating the end of the working week on Friday afternoons, when payday comes around people celebrate that, pre-drinks around Christmas and leaving parties. There are moments of ritual or occasions where alcohol, or offering to take people to the pub, is part of the social function around working office life.”

It's an indictment on the British drinking culture now...with the PM as its first sacrificial lamb.

That old style working drinking culture is long gone, except for No.10, or so it seems. But the Brits still have unique drinking habits that go back to the restrictive licensing hours imposed during WWI. The old adage ''Brits on the piss'' often accompanied by ''The last bastion of...'' when referring to exotic expat working locations, particularly when lucrative, was still apt back in the 2000's. I am not sure now. At one time having a golf handicap was a mega-career move in my sector, now all the golf days, etc is frowned upon. But there is still an element of quantity not quality there when it comes to getting your drinks in.

As for Boris and his muccas, with the police now involved, it's getting absurd. The issue was a moral one: the absurd bullshittery of lockdowns which those that imposed it didn't actually believe in and that of hypocrisy. The cops don't need to be involved. But such is the state of the Met, their involvement will be Boris's gain as they don't have much respect.

You're not in the construction business like Mr. Maddams. Although 7 or 8 pints is already 14 to 16 alcohol units plus the 10 in a bottle of wine is a bit excessive even for me.

"'If you go out and you’re not drinking it’s considered quite ‘Ugh, let’s not do it then,’ said Maddams, 49. 'You don’t want to be the only one sitting around drinking a water.'

On a light evening out, he said he will drink seven to eight pints of beer and a bottle of wine. On the days he doesn’t entertain clients he will often run a half marathon to stay in shape.

'I need to earn my money, I need to get my contracts,' he said of going out, in a phone interview while he was out to lunch with clients. 'People buy from people — it’s a relationship business.'"

I did work in the engineering construction sector the beginning of my career. That's a heavy entertainment of client sector, or was. It's all gone now.

The pharmaceutical industry was as well, but that's definitely changed. The days of them wooing the client with fine dining and Chateau Latour has vanished. They're under scrutiny like everyone else to be transparent and clean.

The old days had some attraction, but for a non-player golf person like me, the new age is better. And as I've become antisocial as I've grown older that works for me too. You can't put your mistress on the company paycheck anymore, unless you're working for the Italians. The last 20-25 years the client entertainment culture has changed completely.

“The Taliban began demanding several seats on the flights for Taliban fighters and sympathizers to leave the country so they can work in other countries and send desperately needed money back to Afghanistan, according to a congressional official and the source familiar with the matter.”

You know you are ruling a sh@thole country when you demand seats on outgoing flights of refugees.

"'I've got a brilliant new strategy, which is to make so many gaffes that nobody knows which one to concentrate on,' he told the BBC's Booktalk in 2006.

'They cease to be newsworthy, you completely out-general the media in that way, and they despair.'

He added: 'You shell them, you pepper the media... you've got to pepper their positions with so many gaffes that they're confused.'

'It's like a helicopter throwing out chaff, and then you steal on quietly and drop your depth charges wherever you want to drop them.'"

"'I was making a point about his responsibility for the organisation as a whole.'

This was the prime minister's defence for why he falsely claimed Sir Keir Starmer had failed to prosecute Jimmy Savile when he was director of public prosecutions, while Boris Johnson was under pressure to take responsibility for lockdown parties that happened in No10 - his organisation - as a whole.

To his critics, this was a stretch of the logic at best; inappropriate, insensitive and misleading at worst.

For Munira Mirza - one of his closest political allies and longest serving advisers - his lack of apology was enough to trigger her resignation.
Tory insiders have called it a 'devastating' personal blow for the prime minister, sending a signal even those closest to him have 'lost faith.'"

fuck me this is horrible. She is a stunned cunt no matter which way you swing politically.

Senator.....

"Friendship between [Russia and China] has no limits, there are no 'forbidden' areas of cooperation."

And in other news...

"Certain world leaders, including President Joe Biden and the leaders of Australia, Britain and Canada, will also not be in attendance, after announcing a diplomatic boycott of the Games on human rights grounds.

On Thursday, India said the top diplomat at its embassy in Beijing would also not attend the opening or closing ceremonies after the torch relay featured a Chinese soldier who was injured in a deadly 2020 clash between troops on the Indian-Chinese border."

Let's get it over with and have a world war.... Then I thought about who would be leading the Anglo nations and the free world: Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, Scott Morrison, Jacinda Ardern and my very own Justin Trudeau. Maybe you can throw Modi in there. It's like going to war with Neville Chamberlain leading the way.

Don't know where to put this! But Pimpernel Smith Pimpernel Smith , is the Bridge coming down for Bezos' new yacht?

According to the Mayor of Rotterdam no decision yet. There's so many shipyards around there, you'd think they'd picked one you didn't need to dismantle a historic bridge to get it on the high seas.

To me the bridge doesn't look that historic it's hardly something akin to a Brunel or Telford bridge, in terms of scale or grand aesthetics.

The situation is very grave indeed.

The negative news cycle continues...still unbroken.
It's toxic and the knives are out:

How much is true and how much quarter true?

Clearly the French are making the most progress to meet in the middle with the Russians.

Pimpernel Smith Pimpernel Smith is going to be thrilled
As long as Boris is behind the wheel, there can be no more lockdowns.

The biggest threat to effective governance and getting the agenda done, is the civil service. Without effective management and reorganization there, Boris will never get the policies. Mute point, as he hasn't got any other than a few sound bites and Peppa Pig analogies.
