The Next Election, Political News, and Other Forms of Comedy (US, UK, & Intl)

"Shows that say something, shows that take a stand, shows that are unafraid — this is not a 'We speak truth to power.' We don't," Stewart said.

"We speak opinions to television cameras. But we try. We f------ try, every night."

"And if you believe, as corporations or as networks, you can make yourself so innocuous that you can serve a gruel so flavorless that you will never again be on the boy king's radar — a.) why will anyone watch you? And you are f------- wrong."

Shhh.. You might get on his radar if you keep raving like this.

Does that mean they come back after 3 years?

The hot one is back.

“Donald J. Trump is the 47th President. Pam Bondi is the Attorney General. And I am now the Acting United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey. I don’t cower to pressure. I don’t answer to politics. This is a fight for justice. And I’m all in.”

"'After reviewing the science and consulting top experts at NIH and FDA, HHS has determined that mRNA technology poses more risks and benefits for these respiratory viruses,' Kennedy said in a video announcement on X.

'Let me be absolutely clear, HHS supports safe, effective vaccines for every American who wants them,' he added. 'That's why we're moving beyond the limitations of mRNA for respiratory viruses and investing in better solutions.'"

Does that mean I am back to Novavax this coming autumn?

Canada’s counter-tariffs ‘pulled the rug out from’ CUSMA, U.S. envoy says

U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra: They also started putting tariffs on CUSMA products … We haven’t done that, but Canada has decided ‘That’s fair game. We will call into question CUSMA. Some Canadian politicians have decided that they will attack the president personally, they will attack people on his economic team, his negotiating team. They will attack them personally, not on the policy, but them personally. Again, that is a Canadian decision. All we do is respond to it. There’s two countries that have been relatively harsh against the United States, and that’s China and Canada.

45 minute chat in the car. Much longer than President Trump.

This was bubbling in last year's election campaign and finally came back to haunt her. Rayner had a holier than thou attitude like Eliot Spitzer and then succumbed to the same scandals she savaged others on. Not sure why PM Starmer backed her given she was secretary of state on housing and she herself had a housing thing. Sort of like being Fed governor and having dodgy mortgage applications.

“Inflation, particularly the doubling of rice prices in the last year, was politically damaging.”

Gets you every time at the ballot box.

“Public support further slid after a series of controversies, including criticism of his decision to appoint only two women to his cabinet and handing out expensive gifts to party members.”

De rigeur in 2025.

"He's a handsome man. His ideas are good. There are too many immigrants coming here. Mr Bardella… wants to put French people first,"

Let's elect based on looks.

"He seems like a good bloke. Someone you could get a drink with. France is struggling. We pay too many taxes, and we don't understand how they're spent. And prices keeping rising,"

Why Nigel Farage is a success across the channel.

"He was a good president" - President Trump. Now Bolsonaro is convicted by a kangaroo court on a witch hunt from a government led by Lula, a man who was actually convicted and imprisoned; freed just in time to run against Bolsonaro.

From 45 seconds to 1 minute 20 we have a senator and the fbi director yelling and talking over top each other. Only after 35 seconds did someone bang a gavel to say order?
