I'm getting information sometimes quicker than the MSM, such as the attack on the cancer hospital as one of my brother-in-law's friend's was in there getting his treatment when they got bombarded.

Pray this is true: 600 Russian marines getting ready for the assault on Odessa have thrown down their arms and refused orders. May this be the start.

And I saw American news say 90 percent of Russian forces are still intact. Now they are throwing in convicted criminals, Syrians and Belarusians. I expect North Korea will have a contingent.

But it is okay. We don’t want world war 3 so we won’t do anything other than use harsh language that looks good on the news.

We're doing quite a lot more that just harsh language. In fact I would prefer speaking softly and continue the arming of the resistence and Ukrainian forces.

Very impressed with the company my brother-in-law works for: there was a young ship captain who had one of those suddenly drop dead syndromes about 18 months ago. His wife is 35 and with 2 kids and they've contacted her and after several attempts persuaded to leave to come to the Netherlands for the duration all expenses paid for on our railroad system, which is now established and supported.

I don't think "we" have anything against ww3 per se, it's just that no one gives a shit about Ukraine. The largest part of it has never been Europe and even the most Western area of Ukraine hasn't been Europe for about 100 years. It's as remote as Afghanistan or Somalia, part of the shithole countries.

A Special report from The Spectator on the plight of Ukrainian refugees so obviously they pick the first person to speak to - a chap with a middle east accent - who later dare not show his face, or was it The Spectator, who didn't want to show his face? Why would any honest refugee from the Ukraine not show their face? Weird. There is a Muslim population in the Ukraine, including those from the Middle East, there's also lots of African students - they're equally on the run, but some of them, may have places to go to, as with my family from there, and others not. But I don't believe any of them are so shamed/sensitive or media content restricted that we can't show their faces on television about their plight. Do you?

What I find interesting: The Russian military has lost far more people than Ukraine has lost civilians. All sources say that, only the magnitude differs. That’s the opposite of what the US did in Iraq and Syria or the NATO in Libya. So the Russians are doing a fairly good job when they claim to target only the military??

This presumes the count for civilian deaths is accurate on the Ukrainian side. It behooves the Ukrainians to report higher casualty figures to drum up support for them but I honestly believe in the besieged cities the casualty reports are at best scarce.

I have to also think it's easier to escape Ukraine than it was for Iraq, Syria or Libya where neighbours were more concerned closing rather than opening their borders.
 
some interesting opinion from a Swiss ex-secret service ex-NATO, who worked in/for Ukraine after 2014:

- until mid-February Russia did not have plans to attack Ukraine
- in march 21 Ukraine decreed to take back crimea and started moving all its military to the south and southeast (Donbas). No one left in the north, because Ukraine always said Russia would never attack
- on Feb 11/12 (Munich security conference) Ukraine said they wanted nuclear weapons
- Early Feb US started to claim a Russian attack was imminent, they would attack on Feb 16th. US only interest in this is to prevent Nord Stream II
- as of Feb 12th massive Ukrainian attacks on Donbas started as confirmed by OSCE reports (Russia claimed more than 100k refugees), preparation for large invasion
- on Feb 15th Duma recognized independence of the two new republics
- on Feb 21st Russia decided to attack to protect the Russians in Ukraine
- Russia went for maximum damage, because sanctions most likely would have been the same, whether invasion only in the south east or everywhere
- Ukrainian army is already encircled and largely neutralized. Ukrainian Nazi regiments amount to approx 100k fighters from all nations
- Crimea already voted for Russia in 1991, during sovjet times, they never wanted to belong to Ukraine
- Ukrainian goverment disregarded the Minsk agreement the minute is was signed and started antiterror operations in Donbas

And Duda can repeat he doesn't want to send fighter jets himself and provoke Russia...

Then Zelensky can ask "So what are you doing here then? To do a PR stunt for yourself?"
 
More and more talk of forming a third, non-aligned block in Central Europe. I’m sure Finland would be all-in.

The idea of an EU army is also still circulating, though I can’t see how that could ever go anywhere without the US.

A little far-fetched for an ex-intelligence to say that line, when Russia started already in November to amass troops at Ukraine's borders.

Well what this guy says is that Russia started building troops in September 21 for their "Zapad 21" maneuver which had been long planned to everyone's knowledge (just like the huge NATO maneuver in the baltic countries and the black sea in spring 21), because it is done every four years. They then left part of the troops from the east of Russia there, because they had another long before planned maneuver in Belarus. The US claimed this was in preparation for an invasion of Ukraine, while Ukraine itself said they had no reason to believe Russia was going to attack.

I am not saying this guy is 100% correct (how would I know), but he actually seems to have at least some knowledge about how Russia works and what they are trying to achieve, which I think is a delightful contrast to the "omigod did Putin go insane??" propaganda I have to read elsewhere.
