What's On Your Plate - DressedWell Foodie Thread

Lunch is about to be had, and it consists of almost 2 kg of organic green grapes. A nice treat because my usual baby tree foods got ruined.

Rotisserie chicken and frites from Café Boulud. Allegedly the rotisserie machine is flown in from France.

You go to Boulud and eat chicken really ?!

Well, I was tired from 4 hours sleep and being filled up all night on steak and salty bar foods at the airport. I wanted to try the rotisserie they flew in. The frites was something I was told to try and luckily it came with the chicken. Was there something else I should have selected?

Are you in the states LKP, where else has supersized meat portions on sandwiches?

Dunno, never been to Boulud and didn't know he had more than one restaurant.

What meat was available on the menu?

Menu | Cafe Boulud – Toronto

This one opened a few years ago when Four Seasons was rebuilt. I went once. It looked like Andy Warhol lite with a bunch of minimalist glass/hotel like fixtures. They just renovated last year to add more leather and warmer colours to make it more like a bistro. The menu also changed to bistro favourites with a few localizations: the pho appetizer, and I think the venison. Don't know what else. Oh and L'hamburger which I think he said must be on all the North American menus.

I've never been to New York so it's the only way I get to try anything from him even though the Café is a second tier restaurant in his empire.

Just had unsweetened coconut milk yogurt for the first time and it's delicious, wow.

Given that coconuts don't have lactose in them and therefore lactobacillus cannot change coconut milk into yoghurt, how does that work?

Do you have to use a thickener, something like gelatin, to get the right consistency?

Label shows guar gum, tapioca starch and arrowroot starch. The cultures still propagate in the coconut milk.

Still can't believe how good it is, so light, subtle, almost Japanese-ish in restraint.

Have a feeling I'll be eating it almost every day.

Coconut Grove is the company and $8 for pint and half.

Also discovered organic birch tree water, imported from Ukraine. 10oz bottle has 120% daily Manganese serving and it's subtly complex. Here's their site:

Emereken style burger. Hope it will soak up the 3 vodka shots and double bourbons from earlier as there is currently a Cold War in my stomach.

Well.
Thanks for that.
Otherwise I would never have discovered "organic birch tree water, imported from Ukraine."

That is a plastic funnel - I could not drink Organic Ukrainian Birch Tree water that had touched plastic - sorry - I demand my money back - or I will get sarto and his Falangists to come and visit. Or worse - That Italian kid in his double breasted suits and he will stuff you balls in your mouth.

so. You are actually fwiffo?
The vodka shots were at request of a Russian acquaintance. Only the vodka was French and the Russian tells me he hates Putin so I'm not sure if he might actually be Polish or Latvian or something. Or maybe he is from Moscow, Idaho.

Either way I emailed his name and photo to the FSB as soon as he turned his back.

he is only an acquaintance but judging by the ironic moustache, hipster tattoos on his legs and the fact he wishes Putin would "die from cancer" I am guessing he is a fan of Nadya and dreams about threesomes with her and one of the girls from Pussyriot.

Had a cashew cheese semen tofu today that was off the charts, tasted almost like yuba, and came with a good fake-hollandaise sauce over spinach and kamut bread.
