Seeing a lot more Rivian electric Amazon vans around lately. Maybe the company will survive. The truck is pretty impressive, but seems pricey for what you get.

This is just cool:

I should never have signed up to this mailing list. So many cool cars out there.

Driving a rental this month. MG have fallen a long way since the days of the MGA.

MG is owned by SAIC, which is owned by the Chines gubment. Built in China not at Longbridge. The company is not the leading quality maker in China.

The interior of the redesigned Wrangler finally caught up to the modern age, I am trying to convince the SO to look into it as the next car.

The new Taco also looks awesome, so happy Toyota kept the 6 speed.

MG is the cheapest EV in Oz at the moment - a few NFP are getting them - good deal.

Twelve months later and the Tesla still hasn’t exploded. Actually, it’s been a dream so far. Can’t fault the speed and comfort. It’s a lot of fun to drive and the family all prefer riding around in this one. It’s heavy and I haven’t thrown it around corners hard to test it, but it feels agile enough in for city traffic. The regenerative breaking is cool but hard to use if you are switching back and forth between regular cars. After a day or two of just driving this car the breaking feels very natural. There is a lot of tech here that is nice but not essential - I like the additional safety buffers but don’t rely upon them. Getting a gentle prompt that the light has turned green while you are busy scrolling DW is nice. Haven’t tested it off-road it all.

Can’t say too much for service as we’ve had minimal issues. My wife (the primary drivers of the Tesla) is very OCD on finish. She put in a couple of tickets for fit and finish. One was a little wiggle in the side indicator unit and the other was an issue with the side mirror motor not fitting flush. In both cases a tech came to the house and replaced the whole units with minimal fuss and no cost.

My two gripes:

The paint quality is sub-par. It chips and scratches far too easily. We ended up getting a PPF wrap and adding a little carbon fibre spoiler where the hatch kept collecting dings.

It’s a big car! My little Toyotas FJ (which is tall and looks bigger because of this) fits in our garage easily, as well as subcompact city parking. The Tesla has a larger wheel base and takes up much more room. It barely fits in the garage and the doors are always at risk of hitting a wall or the other car.

We just charge off the regular 120v outlet in the garage overnight and have never used a charging station. Not having to fuel up is nice.

Overall, pretty happy with this car. My FJ is nearly 10 years old. I’m in no rush to trade it in, but when I do it will probably be for something electric.

Finally: Elon Musk can eat eat a bag of dicks.

That wouldn’t last 10 miles on Houston’s potholed streets!

Definitely did not expect to see a Chiron pull up behind me. Never seen one before IRL.

There is a Pagani Zonda roaming around West U, I have seen it twice before on Kirtby.

Bought an excellent condition Mercedes S212 as a beater car. Will pick it up next week. It's the chunky pre-facelift version, so it has still lots of the old looks but not the massive quality problems of the previous two generations.

Congrats. Drive it in good health

We’ve had ours for 18 months now, and still impressed. Also, fuck Elon.

Saw a 2024 Porsche GT3 yesterday; fixed rear spoiler is gone but added 2 vents on the front hood. Not sure how I feel about the car. Definitely a lot more vanilla now.
