Guess which office in my Group went snivelling and Grimer Wormtonguing to the shareholders complaining about my immediate moratorium on Russian end-users, projects and clients...the UK. Shakes head in disbelief.

That back-fired, as when I was in my meeting with the shareholders explaining my decision, the Far East Division i.e. the Chinese, sent out their own equivalent ditching all Russian projects, including ongoing works with immediate effect. Except they did it in 6 paragraphs, resplendent with geopolitical references, SWIFT, humantarian disaster, unecessary war, etc. Impressive, but I do prefer my succinct three line version. But good show. Exactly want we wanted, but better that version came from them than me.

So I had to end my meeting with: I do hope the UK (I named the individual) are not implying we should be working for the Russian regime at this time, as that would greatly diminish them in my estimation.

One of my wife's friends, in fact my eldest godparents, are so pro-Russian you wouldn't believe. When the 2014 revolution happened she was on Dutch television as an expert stating well, Russia has geopolitical and strategic concerns, but was cut-off in the discussion as it didn't fit the narrative. Even she's turned on the regime big time. Under normal circumstances I would have said she was likely a Russian intelligence asset - for several reasons - not now. She's turned on them and is absolutely trashing the Russian narrative to the diaspora. Full respect.

Meanwhile, one of the nieces has decided, Portugal is the place she wants to be a refugee in. Had to call BS on that, including the missus sponsorship of it. If we're going to do that, there's rooms and work opportunities here. The climate is not so great, but such is life.
