Why Are You Pissed Off Today?

Someone took my zippo lighter. And it wasn't the cheap entry level one.

It was 26c or 27c last week. It's 5c tomorrow. Why do you do this to me? Why!?

I'm a little bit peeved I took a subway to midtown only to figure out the very specific egg pasta I wanted was sold out. I checked in the morning and yesterday it was there. In fact yesterday I walked to a smaller sister store. When I checked on the website inside the actual store this afternoon it was out of stock.

Life has a way of replaying itself to come back and haunt you.

Still made it to the gym at a later 6am the past two days but I'm knackered.....really need to sleep more or I'm tempting fate.

Just gave away $500 of opera tickets because my father is in the hospital since yesterday and looks to be there for a good amount of time.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he gets better quickly.

Sport to hear about your dad. I hope he gets better quickly.

Cheers mate.

Initial signs say no because he has compound issues that need to be resolved one at a time. But at least he is stable. Now I just have to deal with my ex nurse mother who wants to martyr herself at her old workplace's emergency room.

Really getting annoyed with people who step in front of me at intersections. Can't anticipate traffic lights. Poor reflex and first step. Walking pace between my dead grandmother and a cripple.

I get fed up with all the strangers who register here and then ask me for advice on jumpers. They are all the same; they register here, ask questions, then go. None ever say thankyou. All start off charming and nice until they get what they want. All are as predictable as rabbits.

Tell them to post their questions on the forum, that way at least we all benefit from seeing your response. Also, you can point people to existing posts when you get the same question in the future.

Do that also copy and paste their questions and answers to the sweater thread. One post per PM. We’ll ban their accounts if they’ve never posted. Fuck these grifters.

The air conditioning gave out yesterday and I left it blowing on high to act as a fan when I went to bed. Then in the middle of the night it was repaired and now I have a stuffy nose. I am reminded how I really hate cold air blowing on me when I sleep.

Mrs DB loves having ceiling fans running year long for the air movement and white noise. I’m the opposite

Moved from ER to cardiology except some appointments are at another hospital. Lovely.

Try and stay strong for the family. I know it’s hard but you’ve got to be the dock to which all boats are moored.

Somehow I get the vision I'm Deep Space Nine or the base for Men In Black.

Possibly another test from another department today. They keep asking if there was a history TB because some lung cells have died. Hopefully it's not because I gave him coronavirus last year.

Is that a general forum question? Most of us in the northern hemisphere are baking...today is only 25c for me though.

Wondering how your family are holding up - this has to be hard on everyone.

Wondering how your family are holding up - this has to be hard on everyone.

Untreated diabetes probably made everything worse so his lungs are going, his pancreas isn't producing enough insulin, his heart is going. They said originally there was something going on with his kidneys but that seems okay for now.

He did an angiogram in the hope to find a way to put in a stent to increase blood flow. They said all of his arteries are diseased. He has one left - the main coronary - so they would need to do a bypass and maybe use another vein. The problem is his heart is weakening so you can increase the flow but the thing pumping it is not working so great.

The drugs improved the heart from 30 to 39 percent in 6 weeks, but he's not a fat person with high blood pressure so it drops his blood pressure and he starts fainting. The diabetic and diuretics he's on actually flushes more stuff out so he's getting thinner. His swelling is under control now and he was able to talk without oxygen yesterday but there's always moments when he exerts himself or goes to sleep that it potentially drops to a dangerous level.

He makes his formal decision today whether to do the coronary bypass this weekend.

He was explaining all this in his bed and then broke down and cried in front of us saying he was sorry he just doesn't have the strength to do the surgery, recover, take care of the other organs dying, and be there to see his kids and grandkids.

This is coming from someone whose idea of a vacation before the virus was hiking in Norway.

My mother is ignoring her sister in laws and sister's inquiries why she didn't attend her cousin's husband's funeral. Now the aunts are ringing my personal mobile.

The problem is she makes up stories of who is in the hospital and when (her, my father) and I have no idea which story she told to whom.

I think I have bed bugs. Christ. Woke up today with bed bug like bites on my torso.

Spent an hour looking for 'evidence' of bed bugs. I am somewhat clueless, examination so far is inconclusive. I have spent two hours this evening wiping, hoovering, dusting very nook and cranny of this room as cleaner is not in till next week. Bagged all bedding to be thrown away. Undecided if that should include my mattress and bespoke bed frame or maybe I just burn the entire house down and move.

Bagged all bedding to be thrown away.
that's unnecessary. it just needs to be washed on the hottest water possible and dried at high temp.

Still alive?
Barely. Had a terrible night sleep, tossing and turning and finally woke up at 3am dreaming (or reality) that bed bugs were all over me.

Thanks, that should help.

My family thinks I am nuts when we travel as if I am staying longer than a few days , I bring my own sheets and pillow cases to put over any hotel and BnB equivalent which are all haven for the stuff - this is after I quadruple check the bedding and thoroughly clean whatever room I am in again.

I was scarred after being bitten mercilessly in India almost two decades ago. In Mysore and Kerala, where accommodations were a dump and no functioning toilet and I had to share living space with cockroaches and other wild life, zero bed bugs. Spent a week in Goa and another in fancy hotels in Mumbai and I was ravaged by bed bugs and travelled back with some more.

Turns out it wasn't bed bugs! Had an exterminator out and couldn't find any evidence of an infestation.

Turns out I have shingles!

Oh no! That’s more unpleasant than bed bugs. Wishing you lots of pain relief over the next few weeks and a speedy recovery.

Blimey. Did you get chicken pox before? Or it's your first time? Not sure there is much you can do other than vitamin injection and waiting it out. My mum had it bad one year and started to have facial paralysis. Full recovery though.

Wow. Shingles can be bad. Rest up. Be careful. You had shingles Vaccine?

How does a vaccine help him now when he has a break out?

Blimey. Did you get chicken pox before?

Yes

Or it's your first time?

No, then it would be chickenpox

Not sure there is much you can do other than vitamin injection and waiting it out.

Antivirals like Valtrex and pain relief

My mum had it bad one year and started to have facial paralysis. Full recovery though.

Same. My mum got it years ago and said it was the most pain she’s ever been in.

How does a vaccine help him now when he has a break out?
It doesn’t

Well, I am in unimaginable pain. Tingling, burning, sensitive rash on my back and under my chest and general fatigue which sucks. I can't even rest because a) I am in pain even when I sleep and keep waking up. Can't sleep on my front/back or on my left side due to the blisters. Can only sleep on my right side but that is not practical. At least, it is only on my torso and nowhere else

I am stunned tbh. Thought it was something mostly old people or people who are immuno-compromised get. Was it the rona virus güero güero ?

Like most, I had chicken pox when I was a kid (about ten or so), no biggie. No, I haven't had the shingles vaccine.

I am hopeful I should be on the mend in the next week or two but the pain...my nerves are shredded.

Plot twist: it wasn’t bed bugs, it was herpes all along. The exciting life of a DW member living in the Dungeon of Disease.

Get well soon, mate! Take all the drugs your GP will give you. Drink lots of water. Distract yourself with online arguments over #menswear. Alcohol not advised, but no one would blame you for pouring one.

Comisserations.

You sound fit so I hope you bounce back quickly.

Same. My mum got it years ago and said it was the most pain she’s ever been in.

One of my mother's eyes wouldn't shut so she taped it to go to sleep. She thought she had recovered and then went on a cruise to a hot and steamy destination and relapsed. She is super vain so she spent most of the cruise in her cabin.

I have had some pain in my life but nothing comes close to shingle for me. It is weird to describe, but I feel like been stabbed with multiple knives coming through my back through to my rib cage and comes out the front. The knives are imbedded in my skin constantly and every few mins or so, someone goes and twists a few of those knives whilst simultaneously electrocuting me.

The nerve pain on my T5 dermatome (and likely T6 and T7) is excruciating.
